Here's the PowerPoint I made for this lesson.  I'm pretty happy with this new book so far.  At least, it's better than that J.L. Haas book we were using last semester.  Included in the ppt is a simple pass the ball game I threw together.  I didn't put music in it or anything because, well, I'm just not that savy with PowerPoint, I guess.  After we finish I'm going to let the kids ask questions about me since I know they will be curious.  Either that or I'll find some Mr. Bean clip that is loosely connected to the material.

My lesson is adapted from Singjapoe's lesson. I focus on having the class read together. Much thanks for the material and the game. ;D

Hopefully some of you can find some use with my changes.

Hi everyone,

This is my first lesson for the year. It's a prezi which you can use directly (though I would suggest you change the pictures of me and my friends  :P) or you can just take the ideas.

http://prezi.com/c9phstxspnxw/grade-1-unit-1-me-and-my-school-christian-h-kim/

The plan is to go through what you say when you meet new people (the difference between, "Nice to meet you" and, "Nice to see you") and then reintroduce myself and introduce 3 friends from different countries who live in Korea.

After this I will get the students to make a table when they can ask about people in their class, "What is your favourite subject / favourite Food / Movie / book/ etc". They will then walk around the class meeting and learning about each other.

Depending on time I will then play a easy / fun probably unrelated warm down game.

Pm me if you have any questions.

This is another basic PPT. Listen and repeat is the theme. Younger students are less shy to participate when everyone is talking together. This is important to remember for your first few classes if you're a first year teacher.

My lesson is split over two weeks. I made only one of the worksheets. The "Going to School" worksheet is not my own, and credit goes to the original creator. 45 minutes hasn't been enough time for me to finish this particular lesson. Be sure to watch the clock.

I usually do 3 weeks for 1 chapter where week 1 is a ppt, week 2 is an activity, and week 3 is a game. I made a pretty standard Mystery Box game for this chapter, and the kids seemed to like it. I imported a scoreboard for it, but there's no real reason for it. The kids have to be able to see the scores so they know if they should keep or give the box. You can skip the scoreboard by clicking the X in the top left of the screen after the points come up. Hope you guys like it. Oh, and some of the questions are WAY easy and some aren't. You'll have to gauge for your classes. I like to have a good variety.

This is my PPT for the first week of this lesson.  It is mostly book, based with a quick game I made up near the beginning.  It's pretty self-explanatory.

Jumbled Sentences. (Low level).
Pgs 10-20 review.

Students write each word on a piece of paper and then put the sentences together.

A very popular activity with my class.

Hi everyone, here are my materials for Lesson 1. I did the lesson in two parts (1.1 and 1.2).

In the second part I did all the listening parts using the textbook DVD, then a fun activity that the kids loved where they describe a character (using some of Lesson 1's key phrases - favorites, where they're from) and their classmates guess. First I had them do the activity in groups, then allowed volunteers to read their introductions for the whole class to guess. They got really into it!

Hope it helps  ;D
