Here's a rough ppt for this lesson (high level).  I haven't added on all the "appear on click" actions just yet and I'll probably add more to the "make your own weather forecast" bit.  But you get the basic idea, hopefully.  For charades at the end just type in "charades" to the search bar on the home page of waygook and it should be the first one that pops up.  Cut up the paper and you're good to go.

I really like the making a weather forecast idea. For some reason it never crossed my mind.

This is my Prezi for this chapter. I have focused on the weather because they get enough practice with the present progressive and I don't think it blends well with the weather in conversation.

Go through some basic weather terms. Show them a Running man weather forcast clip. Get them to draw the weather on a blank map of Korea and write a mini script for a weather forecast and get them to present on the board like a weather reporter!

Might add a little more before monday. Like extreme forms of weather.

Here's the blank map of Korea...not that its difficult to find  :P

Hey everyone!

First post here! I have been helped exceedingly by the plethora of ideas, PPTs and resources from everyone on this site. Here are my Part A and B PPT lessons for this chapter.

Part A - Taken from bs07rjlp's Prezi post - need to print out a blank copy of a map of Korea for students to fill in for the activity.

Part B - Self-made. Change the name for the 1st slide. It usually takes up the entire period, if time remains I usually show a video from a backup playlist.

I hope it proves to be useful!

the first slide is a handout... to printed, one for each student, or pair, depending on how you do it. The 2nd slide should be up on the tv if students are working individually, or printed and a few copies laminated and kept in the dice-throwing area if they're in pairs. a few throws of the dice should give the students something to draw into the picture. I plan to have them in pairs, with one drawing and the other throwing the die at the other end of the room (where the dice must stay) and going back and communicating to the drawer what to draw in (then switch roles). this keeps the drawer from seeing the die or rubric, i.e. forcing them to speak to each other to communicate. should be good for maybe 15-20 mins, including handing out and explanation. i'd precede it by revising prepositions, the present progressive if necessary, and maybe some picture response or something to practice combining the two.

In the end there wasn't enough space to do the long-range running-dictation version; so I had students draw their things on the sheet in pairs with the rubric on the television, and raise their hands when they'd done 5. I collected their sheet (with name on) and swapped it with another pair who'd finished, and had them try to recreate the sentence that the original drawers had used to create their pictures. went down well.

worksheet for practising the combination of the present progressive and prepositions before game fun. To be marked and given back, or reviewed in the lesson if you prefer. It's an inductive approach to grammar, i.e. let them work out the rules themselves instead of bashing them over the head with it and hoping they remember. if they ask questions, personally i'll just tell them to work it out from the example and try things out. And walk round telling them if they get anything wrong.

the worksheet's got '학교 위에(서)' twice at the top, you'll want to remove one of them (the one with only one answer space)

the ppt explains the on / above / 위 and under / 밑 / 아래 dichotomy

Hi ~

I've just started teaching at a Middle School and my co teacher has asked me to do a review test along with a practice test for the students. It includes some of chapters 1-5. Here is a worksheet on present +ing. I will upload the practice test when I have the bar graph added.

Hope it helps.

Elicitation slides for the Weather, plus Weather matching game (based on Guess Where template by RUFUSW thank you http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,3718.0.html ).

Last slide just did a memory race in groups with mini-whiteboards.
