So first go through ppt. The first slide has a video clip from Barney for the song "You are Special" (Starts at 22:00 BUT only show if you have extra time, which you probably won't). Play mystery Box game. (That was enough for one 45 minute class) The second part is a  4-corners game I made for an introduction lesson but modified it for this chapter. Just bring 4 notecards with the numbers 1-4 and pull them from behind you back to eliminate corners. Sometimes you can play two games. If you run out of questions just play with the notecards and have them pick a corner at random. If you want them to practice the dialogue for "My favorite ____ is ____ because ______" Just ask random students in their groups before you eliminate a corner. If they can't answer then they are also out and must sit down. Last person standing gets candy!

Loving the Free Point Shootout game.  I modified the rules and content a bit when I did it to work with the second part of Lesson 5 about agree and disagree.  I made one person from each team stand up and one person had to make the sentence. i.e. I think science is easy. and the other student would agree or disagree.  They would then play rock, paper, scissors and the winner got to take the shot.  Props for posting it here and to the original creator.

I used the Free point shootout game as a basis for this. Instead, I drew a "dartboard" on the whiteboard and once students answered correctly, they could throw a 'ball' (2 pieces of scrunched up paper) at the board. I allocate 5, 3, 2, 1 points dependent on which circle their ball lands in. 

I played 2truths and 1Lie with my students. It incorporates the conversation from "both speak out sections in the beginning of the chapter. The directions are on the ppt, pretty self explanatory.

At my school we divide up pages 82-83 and pages 84-85 for each lesson. I've noticed the PowerPoints on here seem to combine these two chapters. For the people that have posted their PPTs, does your school combine these lessons or regularly combine both Listening and Speaking parts before the Communication task? Also I don't do the Communication task at my school, that is done by the Korean teacher on their teaching time.

I was wondering the same thing.  I do the same as you, Lawrence, and even then I'm ahead in lessons for the year, I only have to do 5 lessons this semester.  So now the rest of the semester is filled with review games/activities.

Really? That is crazy. There are another 5 lessons in the book. Considering we started in March, at least I did, if you add another 5 lessons then that should bring us to October or so before this book is finished. I only have the first part of this book on my computer but I will be pissed if I have to just do games from July onward, even though games are a big part of what we do.

Yep, ten lessons in the book. 5 lessons per semester. I started in march as well, so I'm in the same boat.  I was spending about 2 weeks per lesson only to be told when I started lesson 5 thats all I should do in the semester. Mind you she did say semester 2 is a shorter one so I could do lesson 6 if I wanted to. But then the exams will only be on 1-5 (i assume) and not 6 so not really worth doing it. Looks like games here on out.

This is my lesson for Listen and Speak 1 - favorite things. The lesson plan and ppt should be pretty self explanatory. Memory game is also attached. Hope it helps someone out.

Here's a little activity I did for Listen and Speak 1. It's a personality test which gives you your ideal career based on your favourite things.

I made it up myself so it's obviously not very scientific or accurate. You could play around with the numbers or careers if you like.
