Anyone else teaching this book this year?
This is what i am teaching this week for Lesson 4 "Miracle of 100 won" from YBM book. We do a slang, idiom and tongue twister every book lesson, so just ignore that since you probably don't need it. Then launch into topic with video (i usually show just parts of it, or mute & ask questions when they're doing cooking part). Then review the key phrases "That's too bad" and "I'm sorry to hear that" by having one student read problem, and two others make the two different responses. Then we play the battleship game - this has gone both well AND horrible. Any suggestions? I think its almost easier to pass out the worksheet and only use PPT explanation if needed (or you have a co-teacher who does nothing...).

Hey everyone....!!!!
I want to give madd props to member: Stef_08 ! Your power point is totally awesome...!!! Thank you so much! I really liked being able to show my students the video re: volunteerism and also being able to donate "free rice" via the spelling game.
I did not use "Battleship Game" because my co's and I prefer that our students write a bit more. So, I am including the worksheet that I have been using within our classrooms. It's been very successful after Stef's awesome power point!
Thanks again!

Looks like I'm behind everyone a little :)
However, I adapted Stef's ppt (thanks) & added a new section for the Can I.... Can you.. Can I borrow.
The latter comes with a review game.
This lesson is in 3 weeks. Hence, the 3 good morning slides :)

Here is a slap the board game for the Lesson as well as a few items for Lesson 5. What I do is print off the ppt and cut out the sentences and pictures. I tape the sentences on the board and go over the pictures to match the sentences. You will need two fly swatters (cheap at the store) or something to slap the board with. I line up two teams and randomly pull out a picture. They must then us the fly swatter to slap the correct sentence for the picture. You can score points however you want. Grade 1 really liked it so I hope it works.

Hey,
I am uploading a PowerPoint presentation of
Lesson 4 Listening & Speak 2
. I teach the one lesson in parts, across two weeks, so the main focus is on
Asking Permission
. I included a short review of
Sympathy
in the beginning slides. The PowerPoint is simple, mainly to drill students and enforce memorization of the key phrase.
The activity is peer interview using the worksheet uploaded. If there was time left after this activity, I played Simon Says with the students using "Can you...?" rather than "Simon says".

I know some of you may not have access to the teacher's book and/or CD's, so I thought I would share the unit plan that is provided in them! It has been a great starting place for me and I hope this, along with the other supplemental material provided, will make lesson planning that much easier for you!
