Since all the sports activities and field trips are postponed until next semester, my coteacher wants to finish through chapter 7 with the extra class time we have been given. So I feel like I am light years ahead of everybody.
But here is a short activity for the why/because portion of this chapter. I saw some game activities from other threads on waygook involving why/because. Basically you put the class in teams and give them a sheet of paper. Each team writes a "why" question, then folds it and passes it to the other teams. The following teams then (without seeing the question), write their "because" answers. The point of the activity obviously being to have some silly fun while practicing the target language.
However, I know my students will struggle thinking of "because" answers, so in the interest of time I will only have them write the "why" questions and then they will choose a letter that reveals a silly answer that I already made. If you use this, make sure to change answer B and add your own name instead of my nickname.
Also, even though it sounds a bit awkward to my ear, I decided to stick with the textbook and teach "It's because..." rather than just "because..." like most people say. My students are low level and I choose not to confuse them if I can help it.
Enjoy.
