Here is my ppt that relates to the theme of pollution/environmental problems and covers the grammar function of past tense (regular & irregular) verbage. Strayed away from that whole fairy tale vibe . . .

My teaching style may be different from yours.  One week, I do the text book.  Depending on the school, "Let's Communicate" or "Listen and Speak" will be my responsibility.  I cover that for maybe 20 to 30 minutes depending on the students level.  After that, I play a game or do short power points summarizing these phrases or themes.  The second week, I do my own original lessons based on the theme of the chapter. 

As for the theme lessons, I already have Power Points for some of them. 

Anyways, this is a textbook week lesson.  First, I do my section of the book.  Then, I go into this power point for the rest of the class.  The textbook usually takes most of the time in class.  (I usually make them large enough to not finish in class.  But, I'd rather have too much than not enough.)  The next week, I will do a more detailed lesson about the "Environment" for the full class.

I do sometimes copy other people's material and blend it with my own original work.

My material so far for this lesson.

A bingo/mingling activity and a jigsaw (students in groups of 3/4).

I found this nice stop motion video on youtube aswell.

I had three teaching periods to kill for this lesson so I edited this angry birds bomb game template (with scoreboard) for the end of Lesson 5. 

Thanks to the others for posting the review powerpoints and summer nights material, these went down well in my classes.

Hello Jharris,

You cut up the cards.
Put the class into groups of 3 or 4. (if a group has 3 students then 1 student has to read 2 cards) This doesn't take long as the students already know their designated groups for group activities, so I just say "In your groups."

Ask the groups to assign letters to themselves.
Check with a quick hands up who the student As, Bs, Cs, and Ds are.
Get your classroom helpers to give out the cards.

In groups, student A reads his/her card (just one sentence, question 1), then student B, then student C, finally student D. Each student reads a sentence. On their own the individual sentences don't lead to a clear answer, but read all together the answer should be more obvious. Each student can only read his/her sentence, they have to listen to the other 3 sentences.

E.g. Question 3
Student A: I'm in bed.
Student B: I'm asleep.
Student C: I'm a young woman.
Student D: Who am I?

Answer = Sleeping Beauty

The answers:
1. Park
2. Museum
3. Sleeping Beauty
4. Trash / Rubbish
5. Newspaper
6. Meal
7. Sore throat
8. Zoo

If the students give a different answer, but can argue why it's right then I let them have a point for their alternative answer. E.g. some students answered 6. as Rice. My students are generally more beginner level. You can change the sentences to be more demanding.

I've slightly changed the jigsaw files now, I use a great template from Aklimkewicz. I'll attach them below. The PPT copy is put on the monitor to explain the activity to the class and check the answers at the end. The SS copy is the student worksheet you cut up and give out.

Sorry for the long-winded explanation.

Modification of other lessons, some of my own material, and a quiz based on words and expressions from the book.

If someone wants to do a similiar style modifying this material for grades two and three, I'd sure appreciate it.  It's a lot of work here.  Ha ha.

Kids sit in teams and each group uses white boards to write the answers and they compete for points for the quiz part.

I took their materials and mashed them up and separated them out into the textbook's respective listen & speak lessons.

Here's my ppt for the first part of lesson 5 (What did you do...?) with a slight review of lesson 4 plus a wall diction game (template from another thread).
There's a review of past tense game where I just wrote present tense verbs on a mini white board at the back of the class and had teams race to write the past tense on the big white board at the front. Worked really well.
