Hey guys
Key expression: "going to" (from Listen and Speak 1)
Here is my lesson plan for next this lesson. In fact, it contains two different lesson plans with separate activities (after I made the first one, I remembered using the movie activity with the grade 2, and they enjoyed it, so I decided to do that instead but I kept the original plan as backup in case there are technology fails etc).
Have fun!

My students really enjoy the video activity and give it full attention.

Nice! I like the "going to happen video" Ben. I've integrated that into my powerpoint, along with some more "going to" drills and a warm-up of how to say hello in various languages (actually cannibalized from my lesson 2 Friends around the world lesson).

Here's a quick exercise I made to go with the "There is/are" exercises, basically looking at some pictures and describing them, and in one finding the hidden person. The kids seemed to enjoy it, although I'm not sure they appreciated the album covers I included as much as me. I did this as a class, but it wouldn't be hard to make this a group game/activity.

Hi, here's what I taught for this lesson. I found that I usually ran out of time during the 'what is going to happen' video at the end of class, so ultimately I was pretty happy with how the lesson timed out. If you want to use the 'hello' from around the world activity with the sound, you'll have to find and download sound files for each language yourself (it needs a file path on your device to work).

My teaching style may be different from yours. One week, I do the text book. Depending on the school, "Let's Communicate" or "Listen and Speak" will be my responsibility. I cover that for maybe 20 to 30 minutes depending on the students level. After that, I play a game or do short power points summarizing these phrases or themes. The second week, I do my own original lessons based on the theme of the chapter.
As for the theme lessons, I already have Power Points for some of them.
Anyways, this is a textbook week lesson. First, I do my section of the book. Then, I go into this power point for the rest of the class. The textbook usually takes most of the time in class. (I usually make them large enough to not finish in class. But, I'd rather have too much than not enough.) The next week, I will do a more detailed lesson about the "Travel" for the full class.
I do sometimes copy other people's material and blend it with my own original work.

Here is a complete lesson for Chapter 6, Part 1. It covers Listen & Speak 1, "I'm going to ..."
In the attachments are a PPT presentation and a Lesson Plan. The PPT is pretty self-explanatory, and the activities are a lot of fun and were very successful with my classes. Some slides have personal references that you will have to change to fit your classes. Also, be sure to save the audio files in the same directory as the PPT, and everything should work fine. The Listen & Speak slides will not work without the audio files.
More information available in the Lesson Plan and comments section on the PPT slides.
Good luck!

Here is a complete lesson for Chapter 6, Part 2. It covers Listen & Speak 2, "There is/are ..."
The projector in my classroom has been non-functional for two weeks, so this lesson is completely No-Tech. It may require a little more preparation, but the students responded well to the new format.
In the attachments are a Lesson Plan, Picture Handouts, and a Textbook Scavenger Hunt. Be sure to download the Lesson Plan, as all the instructions and suggestions are in there. Print out two copies of the Picture Handouts, preferably in color (I'd also suggest laminating them so the students don't draw on them or otherwise destroy them). I've also attached the audio files for the Listen & Speak section; you can just play them off the CD if you prefer.
It was quite an experience going NO TECH for awhile, but a good one nevertheless.
Good luck!

For my lesson I made it FIFA 2014 World Cup Theme. There are two main parts. The first part is a gap filled speaking activity.
Gap filled Activity:
Students go down the row speaking to each other. Talking about which game they want to see and what country to watch.
Connect Four:
This game works best in pairs of two. One person is A and reads the top and another person is B and read the side. To play connect 4, a person needs to get four in a row. You start at the bottom and work your way up.

On day one, I more or less stole the materials made by pjblake, and for the second day of this chapter I made a powerpoint to introduce roughly the same material he included in his second post here. It's a tad on the flashy end so you may want to tune it down a bit, but very clean, and reviews "going to" and introduces several basic quantifying terms.
It ends with the pjblake's picture activity and with a running dictation I adapted from hminchew's upload which I have attached below. You can find them listed in the thread if you're so inclined to use them, or swap them out with another activity.
Hope it helps someone!

Modification of other lessons, some of my own material, and a quiz based on words and expressions from the book.
If someone wants to do a similiar style modifying this material for grades two and three, I'd sure appreciate it. It's a lot of work here. Ha ha.
Kids sit in teams and each group uses white boards to write the answers and they compete for points for the quiz part.

Hi, this is the first lesson I feel confident enough to upload.
I just finished chapter 6 this week, and it has been pretty much a success.
I basically modified pjblake's lessons. Thank you so much pjblake!!
Day one: I only did maybe 3~4 clips of "what is going to happen" video, then added a round 2 and 3 of broken telephone. Each team gets a different sentence card to whisper. Round 3 has the longest, but funnier, sentences. I ripped out paper rectangles to use as cards, and wrote the sentences by hand.

Day two: Introduced the lesson with how many weeks/days are there until final exams/Summer vacation. Did a quick review of there is/there are (most already knew how to use the two), then students raised their hands to guess how to say the questions and answers. For the activity, I got the idea from the picture handouts from pjblake, but used I Spy pictures on my PPT. Gave them between 3~5 seconds to look at the picture for each item type, depending on the difficulty of finding the items. I also made my own PPT die using a template I found online, so that
I don't have to carry anything
everyone can see what someone rolled.
Take out the last part about rewards, unless you're doing one too, in which case you may switch out the info to match your reward system.

Thank you to everyone who shared their materials for this lesson, I definitely borrowed a lot here. Thanks pjblake for the Scavenger Hunt doc too!
M1 L6 Part 1 PPT
Do Listen & Speak 1 then a video activity. Show students the first half of each clip and have them write a sentence guessing what will happen. Then show the second half. There are 10 clips in the entire video.
M1 L6 Notes Sheet
What Will Happen Video
M1 L6 Part 2 PPT
Review the first key expression, introduce and explain the second key expression and practice (all photos in the practice section are my personal photos from trips I took). Do Listen & Speak 2 and Bring Together. End with a textbook Scavenger Hunt.
