Key expression: "going to" (from Listen and Speak 1)

Here is my lesson plan for next this lesson. In fact, it contains two different lesson plans with separate activities (after I made the first one, I remembered using the movie activity with the grade 2, and they enjoyed it, so I decided to do that instead but I kept the original plan as backup in case there are technology fails etc).

Nice! I like the "going to happen video" Ben. I've integrated that into my powerpoint, along with some more "going to" drills and a warm-up of how to say hello in various languages (actually cannibalized from my lesson 2 Friends around the world lesson).

Here's a quick exercise I made to go with the "There is/are" exercises, basically looking at some pictures and describing them, and in one finding the hidden person. The kids seemed to enjoy it, although I'm not sure they appreciated the album covers I included as much as me. I did this as a class, but it wouldn't be hard to make this a group game/activity.

My teaching style may be different from yours.  One week, I do the text book.  Depending on the school, "Let's Communicate" or "Listen and Speak" will be my responsibility.  I cover that for maybe 20 to 30 minutes depending on the students level.  After that, I play a game or do short power points summarizing these phrases or themes.  The second week, I do my own original lessons based on the theme of the chapter. 

As for the theme lessons, I already have Power Points for some of them. 

Anyways, this is a textbook week lesson.  First, I do my section of the book.  Then, I go into this power point for the rest of the class.  The textbook usually takes most of the time in class.  (I usually make them large enough to not finish in class.  But, I'd rather have too much than not enough.)  The next week, I will do a more detailed lesson about the "Travel" for the full class.

I do sometimes copy other people's material and blend it with my own original work.

For my lesson I made it FIFA 2014 World Cup Theme. There are two main parts. The first part is a gap filled speaking activity.

Gap filled Activity:
Students go down the row speaking to each other. Talking about which game they want to see and what country to watch.

Connect Four:
This game works best in pairs of two. One person is A and reads the top and another person is B and read the side. To play connect 4, a person needs to get four in a row. You start at the bottom and work your way up.

Modification of other lessons, some of my own material, and a quiz based on words and expressions from the book.

If someone wants to do a similiar style modifying this material for grades two and three, I'd sure appreciate it.  It's a lot of work here.  Ha ha.

Kids sit in teams and each group uses white boards to write the answers and they compete for points for the quiz part.

Day two: Introduced the lesson with how many weeks/days are there until final exams/Summer vacation. Did a quick review of there is/there are (most already knew how to use the two), then students raised their hands to guess how to say the questions and answers. For the activity, I got the idea from the picture handouts from pjblake, but used I Spy pictures on my PPT. Gave them between 3~5 seconds to look at the picture for each item type, depending on the difficulty of finding the items. I also made my own PPT die using a template I found online, so that I don't have to carry anything everyone can see what someone rolled.

Take out the last part about rewards, unless you're doing one too, in which case you may switch out the info to match your reward system.
