Hey,

Thanks for the lesson.  I was reviewing the PPT and noticed the audio didn't work for the phone conversation.  Just wondering where I can find a copy of that audio.

Thanks again

Ah sorry, I forgot to post it. Here is the video clip, it was from another lesson on Telephone conversations, but students seemed to find it funny.

Thanks!

Here's another lesson. It worked well for me for the gr2 conversation lesson, so I'm using it again for gr1 and they're enjoying it.

I'm another one who just reworked the grade two telephone conversations lesson. These are mostly the same, but I've added the "Don't forget . . ." line into the dialogs. The last 3 slides on that powerpoint I used as a differentiated dictation gap fill based on part B on p. 109 (the 2nd class period as a review). Also, I've attached a (very) simple hobby review ppt, some hobby bingo cards, and a dialog sentence maze.

This is my lesson for Listen and Speak 2, focusing on "Don't forget to ___"

The song is pretty slow and easy, so it went down relatively well.

Here's my lesson for this unit. I made use of some of the things already in this thread, and tweaked them to fit into my lesson.

My students loved using the bomb timer to determine who had to come to the front of the class to complete the phone dialogue. I usually did this 3 of the 5 times available in the presentation in the interest of time, with the option to do a few more at the end of class if there was extra time.

The Demi Lovato song went over well with most classes. I did have time to play both the official video and the lyrics video.

For my classes I have to do a reading, so that's why the SMS text is in there.

The girls in particular enjoyed the Guess Who game with kpop stars at the end of the lesson.

I included the wav file for the telephone ring as well. You'll need this if you want to use the sound buttons in the presentation.

I modified the Grade 7 phone conversation PPT that aklimkewicz posted to create a Mad Libs style activity using all the dialogs. I also attached a matching worksheet.

If you don't see the attachments, it's still waiting for mod approval.

Here is a complete lesson for Chapter 7 Part 1.  It covers Listen & Speak 1: phone conversations.

As my KT commented, this is a relatively useless thing to teach to modern students with cellphones.  Every phone has caller ID, thus negating the need to ask "Who's calling?"  And everyone sends texts nowadays anyway.  But alas...

There's not much to this lesson.  The activities include a Running Dictation and Whispers (my students like this one).  Detailed instructions are in the Lesson Plan.  As always, be sure to check the comments section in the PPT for links, more information, etc.

I've included the audio files for the Listen & Speak sections.  Be sure to save these in the same directory as the PPT, and everything should work fine.  Be aware that the L&S slides in the PPT will not work without the attached audio files.

Good luck!

Here is a complete lesson for Chapter 7 Part II.  It covers Listen & Speak 2, "Don't forget to ..."

This lesson borrows heavily from Leo Fuchigami's Extreme Sports lesson http://leofuchigami.com/lessons/extreme-sports/.  I've altered the activities to fit the chapter, but credit for the idea and design go to Leo.

Keeping with the theme of this chapter, I use the key expression as a way to describe extreme sports, or in this case, hobbies.  The students have been really engaged in this one, but it's important to keep it centered on them and not spend a lot of time explaining what each hobby/sport is.  Let them figure it out for themselves.

Included in the attachments are a Lesson Plan, PPT, Extreme Hobby Cards, and associated audio files for the L&S section and the music during the Guess the Hobby activity.  Save the audio files in the same directory as the PPT and everything should work fine.  Be aware, the L&S slides will not work without the audio files.  The Guess the Hobby music will also not work without the audio files.

I did not include the video files, but links are in the comments section of the PPT.  For more information, check the Lesson Plan and PPT comments.

Good luck!

To practice the dialogues in this lesson, I made some headbands with popular Korean celebrities on them (Suzy, IU, Lee Jongseok, and Do Kyungsoo). Then I had them take turns picking a celebrity to read the dialogues in the attached pppt I made as. At the end of the powerpoint, there is a madlib. I designed it for my class, which has 6 tables, so if you classroom is set up differently you might want to change how you allocate the blanks. After every student had submitted their answers, I read through the dialogue a couple times and drew they responses from six different cups. :)

The other activity is just a simple telepathy game, and the worksheet to accompany it.

Modification of other lessons, some of my own material, and a quiz based on words and expressions from the book.

If someone wants to do a similiar style modifying this material for grades two and three, I'd sure appreciate it.  It's a lot of work here.  Ha ha.

Kids sit in teams and each group uses white boards to write the answers and they compete for points for the quiz part.
