This is a thread for any lesson material for 이재영/Jay Robert Fraser (천재 교육) Middle School English 1 Lesson 8: Be a Good Internet User. Please share your contributions here. This covers Listen and Speak 1 and 2. Briefly reviews the last lesson, introduces the new language, and has a sample conversation. I make no claims as to quality, but I hope someone finds it to be of some use.

Here's a different lesson that doesn't use ppt. It's going well for me so I thought I'd share.

It's basically a variant of "Find Someone Who" followed by Running Dictation.

Thanks the previous posts you have helped me out a lot. I work at an all girls school so I made some changes for them. This is a review of listen speak 1 but lesson plan is for listen speak 2.

Here's my lesson for this chapter.

The beginning has a brief review of emotions and "You look ___."

The kids love the youtube video of the guy making the funny faces to express various emotions.

The presentation then introduces the kids to various social media websites, and I show them Coca-Cola's presence on each of these sites.

I printed out the blank facebook and twitter template slides and made a worksheet for the students so that they could create their own page to 'share their emotions' online. I had them write updates about how they were feeling or what they were doing.

I didn't have time for the emotion matching worksheet with all classes, but those that did have time did well with it.

Here's a complete lesson that uses the expressions from both Listen and Speak 1 and 2. It's a fun way to do dialogues - my students quite enjoy this activity.

I have an all-boys school, so making them do push-ups is fine. If you have girls, replacing push-ups with something else might work better for you.

The ppt part takes about 30 mins (including 5 mins of student practice time).

My teaching style may be different from yours.  One week, I do the text book.  Depending on the school, "Let's Communicate" or "Listen and Speak" will be my responsibility.  I cover that for maybe 20 to 30 minutes depending on the students level.  After that, I play a game or do short power points summarizing these phrases or themes.  The second week, I do my own original lessons based on the theme of the chapter. 

As for the theme lessons, I already have Power Points for some of them. 

Anyways, this is a textbook week lesson.  First, I do my section of the book.  Then, I go into this power point for the rest of the class.  The textbook usually takes most of the time in class.  (I usually make them large enough to not finish in class.  But, I'd rather have too much than not enough.)  The next week, I will do a more detailed lesson about "Using the internet" for the full class.

I do sometimes copy other people's material and blend it with my own original work.

It was funny to see Pedobear pop up in a ppt, but I don't really think he is an appropriate character to use at a middle school.

Thanks for the material to use, as the book is desperately boring for the kids....

I am looking for something that is a game for them, and found the unscramble game here by SKteacher007, however I don't understand how its suppose to work. The time visual and sound of a ticking bomb is separate from the actual unscrambling of the sentence,...are they not suppose to be connected so that the 30 second time countdown to unscramble the sentences is part and parcel with excitement of the bomb going off?

A lot of this is borrowed from other people. For my classes I do Listen and Speak 1 + 2 one week and Bring Together and Let's Communicate the next.

There are several activities to help the students learn emotions.  Be careful with the No Laughing game - it can either be a great success or a miserable failure, really depending on the mood of the class.  More information is available in the lesson plan and PPT comment slides.

As always, if you want to use the Listen & Speak slides, be sure to download the audio files in the attachments or the slides will not work.  Save the audio files in the same directory as the PPT and everything should work fine.

Here is a complete lesson for Chapter 8, Part 2.  It covers Listen & Speak 2, "I'm sorry to hear that."

The main activity with this lesson is Blockbuster.  I found this game here some time ago but subsequently could not relocate it.  Credit for the game goes to the OP - THANKS!  In my classes, the students had to create a dialog with a partner in order to play the game.  If a pair did not write their dialog, their turn was skipped (and so their team was skipped).  This was pretty effective in getting the students to write out their dialogs.

More information is available in the lesson plan and PPT comments.  As always, if you want to use the Listen & Speak slides, be sure to download the audio files in the attachments.  The slides will not work without the audio files.  Save them in the same directory as the PPT and everything should work fine.

I got this A-Z game "I know stuff" somewhere off of waygook and have adapted it vaguely to this lesson. Students choose a letter A-Z, I also added bear, snake, cat and dog so that my teams would have an even number of chances. The answer will always start with the letter - A  = car accident, B = broken leg, J = jam/jelly is gone (far fetched, I know). Dog, cat, bear, snake can be any answer/random.
You can be as strict as you want with the responses, so the answers are basic. For instance "broken leg" rather than "He broke his leg"

Modification of other lessons, some of my own material, and a quiz based on words and expressions from the book.

If someone wants to do a similiar style modifying this material for grades two and three, I'd sure appreciate it.  It's a lot of work here.  Ha ha.

Kids sit in teams and each group uses white boards to write the answers and they compete for points for the quiz part.

(This combines chapters 8 and 9 due to the fact I usually leave a week free to do a random lesson on Halloween.)
