Grade 1 - lesson 2.
PPT and clap game. The game involves a very basic dialogue which the students add actions to according to the symbol over the word. Play as a class until 1 student remains. Hope your classes like it if you try it :)

Here is my powerpoint and worksheet for lesson 2 part 1.

I am going to have them play "7 up" with the items in the photos, the mirror, pen, comb, eraser, glasses, marker and umbrella. I'll pick seven kids stand up in the front of the classroom, the other students will put their heads down and close their eyes. Then the "7 up" kids will pick an object and give it to a kid sitting at their desk. The student at the desk that gets an item will ask "Steve, is this your umbrella?" If Steve put the umbrella on the students desk he will say "Yes, it is" and then trade places with the student who correctly guessed him. If Mark, really put the umbrella on the desk, Steve would say "No, it's not" and that student will not trade places with Mark. At the end we find out Who gave each object and play again, with the new kids that guessed correctly, and the ones that did not get caught.

Hope that makes sense. The last activity on the worksheet is just if there is too much time left. :) Good luck and thanks to the other waygooks who's slides I stole for the first half of the lesson!

Here is my lesson for Listen and Speak 1 and Conversation (I make my own movies for the dialogues)

I used Colabear's material and changed a few things. Thanks for the idea about the 7 up game, my students loved it! I found a ppt teaching the 7 up rules on waygook.

My pleasure :)

Here is my second half of the lesson for "Let's go...".

FYI the ppt has slides for review of "is this your _______  ?" and "are these your ______?"

To start off the new lesson, as a class, we listed what clubs they liked on the board, basketball, badminton, walking, dancing, art and so on. With the list on the board we went onto to pages 35 & 36 in the book. I reviewed the ideas in the book with my slide of "Let's go ___________" and they answered "Sure, I'd love to" or "Sorry, I can't" based on the animal photo.

The main activity I did was hot potato. So in their pairs they wrote and practiced a conversation like my example:
A. Do you have plans tomorrow?
B. No, I don’t.
A. Ok, let’s go to New York for some pizza.
B. Sure, I’d love to.

I told them they couldn't use New York or pizza, and they can say "Sure, I'd love to" or "Sorry, I can't." Some were really good, my lower level kids read from the book, which is fine, cause they are speaking. So everyone stands up, and then we throw the "hot potato" around the room when the music stops the pair that has the potato has to demonstrate their conversation and then sit down because they are out. The winner is the last pair left. (I left about 15 minutes to do this all.) I gave the winners a sticker, as I changed my reward buck system to 5 stickers equals candy :)  Hope this helps, I know I'm a week behind, sorry, we had a school field trip so it pushed around all the lessons.

First time to put a lesson on this site. It is about time. Moved to the middle school level so creating all new materials. I will try to help contribute since there are so few of us using these books.

This is a game to play using the expression 'is this your' and 'are these your'
It is a telepathy game. Students in groups or individually will write yes it is or no it isn't. Pretty simple game. I have the students read the dialogue after completion of the slide.

Has anyone had success with a fun game for this lesson? I'm wondering if some sort of celebrity interviewing game would work where the kids would each get a picture of  (and maybe some sentences about?) a celebrity. Then have to ask each other questions like, Does Psy like ice cream? and then relay that information somehow as: Psy likes ice cream or Psy doesn't like ice cream. --- but I can't really envision how the mechanics would work.

Can anyone help?

Here is my presentation for the second lesson in chapter two. It covers the Conversation on page 36 and the Real Life Task on page 40. I decided to expand the RLT into a survey-style worksheet for the students to use, instead of the one in the book.

The worksheet will allow students to "join a club." That club will be their team for the jump-clap game by Jacob Boer, adapted here for join the school club language. Enjoy.

This is a Jeopardy style game to review chapters 1 and 2 that I'm  to review before our midterm.

Thanks to whoever made the jeopardy power point originally.  :-*
