A very basic PowerPoint for Lesson 4 It's Up to You!  Students look at the pictures and have to guess what the pictures are related to by using the phrase, "Are you good at...?  I plan on having students  draw their own pictures or act and have them share with the class.  Students have to guess the actions or drawings of the students.

I made this first part very simple, because I split the chapters into two weeks....

 Plan -

1. Introduction
2. Partner Conversation Practice - 5-8 teams share their conversations with the class.
(Talking about weekend plans.)
3. Textbook - Pages 74 / 75 only.
4. Bingo - Practicing asking "Are you good at...."

I hope it helps someone. :)

Here is a board game to talk about the future (adapted from a board game from bogglesworld).   Normal board game rules, roll the dice, move the game piece and follow the instructions.

My lesson 4 PPT covers the two grammar points: "I'm going to..." and "Are you good at..." It's pretty simple.

Hey so again all my lessons are split into 2 weeks (so lots of fillers and reviewing). Also thanks to other Waygookers as I used some of their content.

So for past A of this I run the lesson's key phrases first then onto a video by Zack Kim, kids love it :). From there I move onto explaining I like it alot and then onto a fun drilling game(its all in the PPT) drill each slide.

Next to another video clip from the movie HotRod *PS please be careful there is one swear word near the end of it* so make sure to mouse skip it on the video. It is used to intro "not been good at something..." and that allows for the phrase "I'm going to....". I tel them that it is for the future. To reinforce I use a what happens next video but change the words to "what is going to happen next to" show future tense. Students watch a clip/then it pauses and I give possible choices on a PPTX/then the video reveals it. Lastly I drill it further and finish with a BINGO game.

Also the "What Happens next video" is attached below.

Ok so now is part 2 and again thanks to other waygookers who I have use some content

So I start checking if students remember the previous week's phrases. From there I move on to a video by Dynamo the magician and ask after showing it "if he is good at magic?" Next I play a review game basically a picture reveal game that slowly become clear. If a student knows the answer they must raise their hand and answer using "Are you good at.......?"

Next I quickly review "I like it a lot" and show another 2 hot rod clips (these are both clean ) too reinforce not been good at something and that we use the phrase "I'm going to..../I'm going to practice" Next I focus on future plans for the Day and drill that.

From there I move onto the next key phrase "Are you worried about...../What are you worried about?" I start this by showing Justin Beanber followed by playing a Mr. Bean video. Again pause the video at points and ask students "What is Mr.Bean worried about? Afterwards drill using the last slides.

To end I play a Doraemon bomb game by Kyle (really fun and great looking).

Hey there!
For the SPEAK part I liked using the guitar and magic videos from above to talk about talents AND this lip-syncing youtube clip with Jimmy Kimmel and Emma Stone:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLBSoC_2IY8
I also made a Dialog Train PPT game for this lesson. I have the students get in times and line up. The first student starts the dialog with the second person in line and then when they finish the dialog the second person turns to the next person in line and does the dialog...and it continues down the line. When all the students have done the dialog in their team line, everyone raises their hand and that team gets one point!
I got some of the graphics from other users' ppts cause they just fit so perfect^^
ENJOY!!

1.7 crossword puzzles

2. Ppt for part 2 of lesson 4. Key expressions: whats the matter/ are you worried about something/ etc.
call and response, p. 68 (Speak B). Dialogue train

3. Yut nori
This is the traditional Korean game with sticks that you toss/flip (The act like dice).  You need the wood pieces for this game; you could easily make or buy. Using dice would defeat its purpose because than it wouldn't be the korean board game at all. Anyway, I made a game board that allows the students to use the target language based on where they land. I have 30 students so I had four large groups, split each group into two teams, and had one board for each group. My ppt demonstrates the target language/dialogue elicited by each symbol/problem. The team asks the question(what's the matter, are you worried about something?) and the student who flips the sticks answers the question based on where he lands on the board. ALL your students should know how to play this game. If not, you can easily do a google search, but if you have additional questions maybe I can help clarify. Good luck

this is a game to practice the dialogue on page 68. the section B dialogue. you play rock, paper, scissors and move across the game board practicing the dialogue. some of my high level students got bored with the dialogue so i let them change it around like saying, " no, i'm not worried about anything." and "what's wrong? are you worried about ______?"

Here are my materials for Chapter 4. Again, some parts of the PPT are a mishmash from the posters above

Part A – first we did the wordsearch worksheet, and went through the answers on the PPT. Then we worked through the first page of listening, and went through the key phrases in the PPT – ‘What are you going to do next weekend? I’m going to…?’
Finished off with Angry Birds boardgame

Part B – ‘Are you good at…?’ / ‘Are you worried about…?’ Reviewed the previous lesson, went through the PPT, and ended with the Doraemon bombgame adapted from           above

Part C – review, finish the textbook listening part, and pair worksheet (answers on the PPT), and did a Go Fish game. Relied heavily on my CT to explain the rules for the game, since they hadn’t played before – but once they know the rules it can be used over and over throughout the year, with different key vocan on the cards. This one was asking and answering ‘Are you good at…? / Yes, I’m good at / No, I’m not good at…’ ; ‘Are you worried about…? / Yes I’m / no I’m not worried about…?’

Two activities...

"Are you good at___?"  - Find someone who bingo.

I will give each student a bingo card and they must walk around the room. They find someone. RSP to see who asks the question.
Student A (winner of RPS): "Are you good at ____?"
Student B (loser of RPS): "I'm good at _______". B must show that they are infact good at ____ by demonstrating it (i.e. singing a bit of a song, doing a dance, pretending to ride a bike etc).
Student A then says "I’m going to ____________. (free speech...)
I need your help." and they can put student B's name in the box.

If student B isn't good at ____ or is unwilling to do the action, they say "No, I'm not good at ___" and move on.

Cup Song

I'll use the cup song as it has a lot of "gonna" in it.

I found this great prezi and I'm going to use the attached worksheet to go along with it. I'll bring some paper coffee cups in too for those who'd like to learn the actions!

Hi guys,
Here are two more activites if you are needing to fill up your lessons a bit.

Four corners: I stick up A,B,C,D in the corners and then have the kids stand up and chose a corner. I ask them "what are you going to do?" and have them reply using their corner's vocab. Then I get the whole class to ask me what I am going to do. Click to the next slide and whoever is standing in 'my' corner has to sit down. I do this until their is only 1 person left and they are the winner. It works really well for low level students.

Code breaker: This is another great game for low level kids although I'm sure it could easily be adapted for high level students. It can also be played in teams or individually. For higher level kids I tell them to only pick up their pens after I have finished reading the sentences. Basically I read out the sentences and the students match the sentences to the pictures and then at the end we check their 'codes'. It doesn't sound like that much fun but it's been a winner in all of my classes.

I also made an easy board game for my low level students. They had to roll the dice (and move forward or backwards) and then make a sentence. Once they had done this they could  tick one of the wedges in their circle. The won the game by completing one circle.

Hey Alex Hoy. I really liked the pictures you used in your 4 corners game. They're so cute. Can you tell me where I can find similar pictures please? Do you use a specific website? Hope you can help me.
