Here are my plans for the 1st 2 sections:

Warm-up: Here is a .ppt of different advertisements. I show them to the class and they try to figure out what the product is that's being advertised. Some slides we expand on "Why is this a good advertisement? Would you buy the product?"

Activity for end of L&S 1: Coin Flick Game (modified from another game someone posted). I have attached the .ppt for directions, and the board to be used in partners.

Activity for end of L&S 2: Give the class a product, and in groups they make an advertisement. At the end of the class, vote on which advertisement is the best.

Thanks for the ppt JeonjuBiBimBap. I've modified this one for my first lesson. My second lesson is a prezi that has also been stolen and modified from elsewhere: http://prezi.com/brfkapdpbmac/grade-two-lesson-4b-advertising/

Additionally, I did a  make-an-advertisement activity. Rather than letting the students do whatever the hell they wanted, I made it a bit more focused -- shoes. The PPT has coloring book style sneakers that you can print out. In pairs and groups they were supposed to make a logo, slogan, and set a price for their shoes, but some of the weaker students just colored.

Here's a lesson I made about advertising and strange inventions.  It's aimed at middle school but it might be useful as warm-up or background material for this lesson in high school.  I include slides about brands, logos and slogans.  Feel free to use as you wish (edits, modifications, additions etc.)  I'm sure I'll change things as I use it.  I've also made lots of comments in the comments section of each slide to help explain.
