I'll start off this thread with a complete lesson for Chapter 10 Part I.  This covers the Listen & Speak 1 section, "That's impossible."

My students just finished midterms, so any textbook-based lesson at this time of year has to be presented in the right way to prevent a revolt.  So far, so good.  I briefly cover the expression "That's impossible;"  this is so similar to "I can't believe it" which the Grade 2 classes had 2 chapters ago, so I don't spend a lot of time on it.  Emphasize the meaning of "impossible" as it relates to the topic of the chapter: the future.

I review some silly and interesting inventions, and show a few short videos.  Then move on to the heart of the lesson, which has the students creating and presenting their own inventions to the class.  See the handout and lesson plan for more information.

It's worked out pretty well so far, though I've only tested it with lower-level classes so far.  There shouldn't be any problem adapting it to higher-level learners.

Some slides of the PPT have notes and links to the videos; more information available there and in the lesson plan.  As always, make sure the audio files are saved in the same directory as the PPT.

This is a complete lesson for Chapter 10, Part II.  It covers Listen & Speak 2, "What if ..."

Grade 2 covered the conditional if in Chapter 9, so this topic seems a bit redundant to me.  I thought it might be interesting to try "thinking outside the box," as JBrady1985 mentioned above.

The lesson starts with reviewing the conditional if and quickly introduces "What if ..." as asking a hypothetical question.  Do Listen & Speak 2 from the Workbook.  Then I take the "What if ..." concept and present the class with 3 classic moral dilemmas, the ones with the runaway train.  Read the dilemma to the class, and have your KT translate for optimal effect - it's really important that the students understand the problem.  Using the voting sheets I included in the attachments, have everyone circle A or B and put their vote in a box.  Tally the votes, and ask the students why they voted the way they did.  I would recommend giving a class point, candy, or whatever reward you have in place, to encourage discussion.

Finish the class with a game I borrowed from a GET friend of mine.  It practices the target language, but in a very unique way.  Each slide has a CLASS and TEAM sentence on it.  The entire class will read the CLASS sentence, then a select team will read the TEAM sentence.  However, after the CLASS sentence is read, a funny image will appear on the screen.  This image has nothing to do with the sentence, and is meant as a distraction.  The object of the game is to have the team read the sentence without smiling or laughing.  Anyone on the team that does eliminates that team.  Then the next team can try.  Instructions in more detail in the lesson plan.  I'd suggest teams of 3-5 students...the more in a team, the more likely someone will get the giggles.
