For the first lesson, I modified a Mario Pass the Ball that someone else posted. It uses the words on page 10 of the book. I am also roleplaying with my co-teacher and printing out cards of the pictures on the PowerPoint so the students can learn the words before playing Pass the Ball. This is my first lesson, so I started with an Intro powerpoint about me.

*This Mario was made by someone else. I just changed the pictures and phrases.

This is my lesson based on the Listen and Talk part of the book. I made some cards of famous people for my boys (all famous guys, with one exception!). Print them in colour, laminate them and cut them up. Hand the cards out to your students and they can imagine that they are the person when you do any dialogues. Get students to exchange cards a lot throughout the lesson. See the lesson plan for more details. And please change the cards however you want.

For Page (17 and 19):
Game 1:

Step 0: Have students read on the screen all the Q and A
Step 1: Assign groups
Step 2: Have students stand up
Step 3: Play game: Students have to find students who can answer the question.
Rules:
Every student who gets an answer, sits down at there groups, first group finished wins.

Report Back: Ask some students in their groups for their answers.

Game 2: Pick Seven students, and students ask them questions based on the handout.

This is a revision of the Mario Pass the ball game posted by TheMountainTraveler . I have 30+ kids in almost every class so I added a few more slides so more students would have a chance to participate. I could not find balls, so we used rubber fish (one looks like Nemo) I bought at Daiso. The students love the game and really enjoy it when my co-teacher and I join in passing the fish.

Here are my lesson plans and worksheets for Lesson 1. The first ppt is for pages 10 - 11, and the second is for 12 - 13. I use them together with the listening activities on the CD rom. I have skipped or modified some of the activities from the book, because they were a bit dull by themselves.
For the 'In Cartoons' section on pg 12 I get the kids to listen to the CD, listen and repeat after me, practice with a partner, then have a few read it in front of the class.

I have no computer in the classroom currently (yes, it really, really sucks, we're supposed to get one "soon." Blegh). So I can't use powerpoint.
For lesson 1 we worked on the various ways of saying "How are you?"
How are you doing?
How are you today?
How's it going?
How is everything?

What's up?
What are you up to?

I made them brainstorm answers for these questions, and taught them that "What's up?" shouldn't be answered with "I'm fine, thank you, and you?"
We practiced pronunciation for a bit.

Then I give each of the kids a little piece of paper with one of the questions on it. They had to go around the room and ask other kids the question on their paper. They had to write down the name of the person they asked and what the person answered. They each had to collect 5 names and then sit back down and wait. I pretended I was timing them, but actually just waited until they were all finished. Then I told all of the kids who got 5 names to stand up, and told them we had to find the winner. I have all the kids names written on index cards, so I would randomly draw a card and read the name. Anyone who had that name on their card had to sit down. I drew 4 or 5 cards, until there were only 3-5 kids left standing and those kids got candy.
It's completely random chance who wins, and the kids LOVED it. Every name I called was met with cheers of delight or shrieks and groans of disappointment. They were hilarious. We had time to play the game twice in almost every class.

Found a lesson from fourfootprints.com which I think is usable and relevant to this book.
It's fun, great visuals with a flowing power-point.

I'm not taking credit for this work, but I did add a little worksheet that can be printed off the last slide from file "Greetings and Where From Lower 2017.ppt"
