Grade 2
« on: March 03, 2011, 08:09:52 AM »
I have to teach grade 2 this year with homeroom teachers (2 lessons a month with each class).

I'm just wondering if anyone has taught grade 2, and what worked and what didn't.

just taught the alphabet  (2 letters per class) using the worksheets from mes-english. also taught the words shown on each alphabet letter worksheet. then played a bomb game.

they really liked lucky wheel, the halloween game, and of course, mario. search for the templates on waygook.org.

i taught time and the alphabet and sang songs.
What didn't work: Colouring by numbers.  THEY HATED IT!  But it could just have been my kids!

Yeah I kind of want to have some routine and focus instead of just having random lessons. I was thinking alphabet and numbers.

Do you have any bomb games, etc that you used in grade 2? Trying to picture what material you had in the game during the beginning when they haven't been taught much.

Thanks.

to be honest, my USB died, so i lost all the edited bomb games. however, i got the templates right here from waygook.org.

i just went over each word and have them repeat it a couple of times. then right before the game, i'd review the words a couple more times again through a powerpoint presentation. and then play!

Is anyone using the textbook? I was thinking of using the textbook and introducing 2 letters each week.
