Games to play with the cards from the back of the book..
« on: March 03, 2011, 08:58:10 AM »
Hi!

Last year we used these games to great effect to drill the key expressions in grades 5&6.
I've looked through the materials in the books this year and think the games could be played with most of the units.
I hope you get as much satisfaction out of them as we did!

This is perfect!  It's exactly what I was looking for for tomorrow's class.  Thank you so much!

This is an old topic, but it's still relevant.

Snatch game

have 1 student out of every pair tear the cards out of the back of their book and place them face up in between them and their partner

have all students put their hands on their heads and repeat a sentence describing one of the cards "a cheetah is faster than a puma" "the post office is next to the bank" whatever is on one of the cards.

when you have made the students repeat a few times you say "go" that's when the students need to grab the card you have been describing (as the game progresses you can say it at different times, different volumes anything to keep it interesting)

it works really well as a generic game when the book game is boring, the kids love it, and if the lesson is on something like comparative adjectives, then at the end, you can have the winner say to the loser "I am faster than you" or you can tie the game into the lesson some other way.
