SHINee game!

In keeping with the whodunnit/police interrogation theme of the lesson (Do you remember ________?), I made this SHINee detective game to go with their Sherlock (clue + note) video.  If you want to be a stickler and have the students use full English sentences to answer the questions, you can.  I just used this to give the students a break from the monotony of textbook work, so I accepted sentence fragments or even one or two-word answers.

The way I used the game was I showed the video (from eatyourkimchi.com or youtube) and told them to pay attention to everything.  After watching the video once, the class had to come to an agreement on their answer before I showed it to them.  I will score each 3rd grade class against one another and give candy to the winning class.

This is an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing it :) I had trouble finding the video though, could you please post the URL?

I just did this today.  I just searched 'SHINee Sherlock' on youtube and used the MV.  Here's the link:

Hi,

I'm just starting out teaching in Middle School and have found all the stuff on this thread really useful for my planning. Thanks everyone!

As payback for all the presentation material I borrowed I'm attaching the worksheet I used for Lesson 7 to practise "used to" sentences!  Just matching famous peoples' faces past and present

It's not great but it helped to sum up the class and the group work kept them engaged for the last 10/15 minutes :)

Lesson 7: Focusing on Before and After
« Reply #42 on: October 08, 2012, 04:18:04 PM »
I teach at Middle School where I run my own class. My co-teacher is there for classroom management and to help translate if the kids are confused.

I do not teach from the book, but rather adapt the target language/ vocabulary into my class.

I taught 3 lessons on the topic of Before and After, and most of my material came from other members on this thread! Thanks for your great lesson ideas! :)

Lesson 7.1

Introduce Topic Before and After
Listening Activity: Somebody that I used to Know by Gotye

Lesson 7.2

Review Before and After
Celebrity Match Up Game
Writing Exercise: Create a dialogue with a partner

Lesson 7.3

Read dialogues written last class. (Note: I have 5 groups go, then take a break and do something different)
Shinee Mystery Game
Finish Reading Dialogues
Extra Time: Play word game!

*I tried to make all my lessons straight forward & with explanations at the bottom of the slides. Let me know if you are confused by something.

Hi all

I am going to use the beginning of this BBC documentary 'Filthy Cities' to get the kids comparing and contrasting old London with the city as it is now. Here is the youtube link:

There are also two other programs in the series - one on Paris and one on New York.

Hope it helps!

Hi, wasn't there a bomb game for this chapter posted here last year? I remember downloading it. It had pictures of post-war Seoul vs. now? Anyone?
