There are a couple of mistakes
Hope that it helps speed up the planning

Ok, so for the speaking and listening part of chapter 11, for this lesson I'm going to focus on aisle and floor number. So here is the PPT, a few slides I borrowed. At the end, I'm going to play apartment bingo, and since the title is about chocolate, the prizes for the winners will be some chocolate!

Here is my almost finished powerpoint.
There's a little Halloween touch in the end. :)

This is my second part to chapter 11. The first part I focused on aisles, floors and ordinal numbers. Now I'll focus on recommendations. First go over recommendations, then book work, then a work sheet where the students follow the format of exercise D on page 183 to write sentences of things they recommend. If there is time, I'll play Apartment bingo again, which is a big hit, I think mostly because I give chocolate to the winners!

So with the apartment bingo, they number their bingo boards with floor numbers and room numbers. The floor numbers  can be anything 1-5, and the room numbers can be anything 1-5, for example 204, 105, 503, like that. There are 25 squares, so using all the combinations of those numbers will fill the board. Then I just call out floor and room numbers using ordinal numbers, i.e. fifth floor, second room, third floor, first room.

My grade 3s have already written their final exams and therefore aren't very interested in learning much anymore. Also, my co-teachers in their English grammar courses will be showing movies from now until the end of the school year.... so needless to say, they want me to continue teaching from the text book. Here's my lesson, loosely tied to Lesson 11. I focused on a shopping theme, and tried to include the target language. Also ending with a bomb game.

I hope this is helpful to anyone else who is in my situation; 8 weeks left of school... and my class (I teach alone) is the only class where the students aren't allowed to be watching movies/sleeping. Nice.

I'm in the same boat, mate.... and it sucks. Having to plan 8 weeks of material for only 7 more pages in the book is beyond absurd. My co-teacher told me to simply "find my own materials" and help the students "prepare for high school." What does this mean!? I have no idea what to do, but thanks for giving me one extra filler lesson! Only about 40 more to plan now. Cheers!

I will also be done next week. Sucks!!! I think I'm just going to do revision on everything they did this semester.. so starting at lesson 7, one lesson a week or something... then if I have more time probably watch an episode of something and just ask questions or do something fun.

Yup same here, I decided to let them teach the class/book - if they do a good job then they can have free time. Luckily next week is my last week so I'm doing Chinese Whispers with all the key phrases and then calling it a year. I feel sorry for my replacement.

Aah shame! Imagine! Hi, welcome, here's the book we use, but we're done, so ... teach??  LOL!  Hope you leave the replacement a note... just telling them what they can expect to teach (like 'they've finished bla bla bla they had trouble with lesson x and x and x, so you could do revision on this and this")  shame!

Hello everyone!  This is another waygoodie post for grade 3 lesson 11 Who is Behind the Sweet Taste of Chocolate.  Like some of the other ppts that have been posted for this lesson, I chose to focus on the difference between department stores and supermarkets.  Basically floors vs. aisles.  There are only four slides in this ppt, but I think it's a great precursor to a game or a great review before starting a game for grade 3 lesson 11.  The first slide is just a drawing of a cutaway of a department store.  I usually like to ask "where can i find ______?"  and the students respond with "Its/They're on the ______ floor."  Slides 2 and 3 are basic dialogues in a supermarket.  I ask the students where the customer and the clerk are, and they respond "a supermarket".  I usually like to use famous Korean figures in the powerpoints and go as far as making some of the materials funny.  For example, in slide 2 Kim Yuna (the Korean gold medalist figure skater) is in the supermarket looking for her favorite brand of yogurt....PURE yogurt.  If you didn't know, one of Kim Yuna's biggest sponsors is a Korean yogurt brand called "PURE" yogurt....get it?  The final slide is a scene in a movie rental store.  The famous actor Won Bin is recommended a "dynamic" action film called "Ajossi" or in English (Mister aka Mr.) by the clerk.  Then a funny little dialogue ensues.  Please understand that I teach at an all girls middle school, so some of the dialogue might more funny to girls.  Anyway, take a look at the ppt and see if you can use it in your class.  Enjoy!

This lesson had a lot of language for some of the lower level third graders I teach so with some classes I spread the material over two periods as opposed to doing it all in one as the plan suggests. Thanks for the aisle/ floor bingo I got from the thread above! It was definitely  a good game to practice these words. Here is the link for my prezi:

I open the class with the ordinal number game (line of 5 students, each says an ordinal number [first, second, third, fourth, etc], but for numbers containing a 3, 6, or 9 they have to clap instead of say the number... it gets really interesting if they get up to the 30's).  Then I do the powerpoint (thank you to everyone I stole from).  You shouldn't be able to get through the whole powerpoint.  Sometimes I only do one of the dialpogues in the end.  Sometimes I'll only do the group activity.  I like to leave time at the end to let them watch a Mr. Bean clip.  The one where he goes to the mall.  The kids absolutely love Mr. Bean.

I still don't know what I'm going to do for my second lesson on this chapter.  I'll post whatever I come up with.

This unit really  Throws a lot of different language points out there all at once.

I focused on Shopping (Do you carry XXX?  Yes, It's on aisle 3) and recommendations.

I followed up with a recommendations survey activity.

Alright guys~ here are my lesson materials that I'll be using. I stole trendgame's prezi and modified it to fit the needs of my lesson with more explainations of the grammar points in there so the students understand.  Then there is the grammar points worksheet with an added Top 100 Most Used Adjectives list which can be printed on the backside. Hope you can utilize it for your classes!

Hi everyone, here's what I did for this lesson. I made two maps of a shopping mall (one is an answer key, the other has question marks on it and questions). I pair the students up and have them practice the key language points, such as, "Where can I find Nike shoes?" Their partner with the answer key must say, "They're on the second floor, next to..." blah blah blah. So far has worked ok with many students speaking, but unfortunately lots of other students just like to cheat and look at their partner's answer key. After they finish I go around and check their answers. If I think they cheated, I'll quiz each of them briefly just so they're getting some practice in.

Don't have any activity for recommendations, since my third graders' final exam is one week away. Hopefully some of you might find this helpful. Cheers!
