I have at least one class that really seems to be dragging behind the rest. We just did a review of Lessons 1 and 2 two weeks ago, but I thought that this week I should do a comprehensive review to tie lessons 1, 2, and 3 together. I hope someone finds this useful!

I also have mid-term tests coming up next week.  Here is my review that I created last night.  It has many different assessment activities. The first is listening.  For this one, I just made up fake conversations that go with the chapter but use the term.  They have to choose the one that they hear.

For example:
     1. A: What is your favorite sport? B: My favorite sport is basketball.
     2. A: Really? How often do you play it? B: I play it once a week. 
     3. A: Besides basketball, what else do you like to do? B: I like to play badminton.     
     4. A: Have you heard about this famous sports player? B: Yes, I have. That is Michelle Kwan.
     5. A: Why is she famous? B: She won two Olympic medals in 1998 and 2002   
     6. A: Do you like to figure skate? B: Yes, I do. But I can only practice on Sundays.

Following that is speaking. Pretty obvious what they have to do and gives a sample dialogue. Make a sentence is also pretty easy. They use the action verb and adverb of frequency to make a two sided dialogue. Fix Up the Mix Up! is changing the words around to make a sentence. Then the easier ones: fill in the blanks, select one that is correct, which is not correct. After that is matching.  With this one, it is important to note that some of the ones on the both sides have more than one appropriate match. Read the story and fill in the chart is also pretty easy.  It's a little story I made about due dates and the students have to fill in the chart with the information that is missing.  Then, they have to give advice about what to do for each situation so it covers both concepts for the lesson.

Hopefully you guys like this one.  I've found that I can have them do the listening and speaking together but after that, it is quite in my classroom while the students work independently. We'll check it together next class. But during the class, I'm going around checking their progress and accuracy.  A great way to save your voice~! Maybe a power point to follow to go over the answers together as a class.  Enjoy!!!

The lesson goes back and forth between the worksheet and the powerpoint (and isn't in order by chapter number, though they all get covered at some point).  For the first part of the lesson, students will look at optical illusions on the power point to practice answering "Are you sure?"  Then, using the worksheets, students will go in pairs to ask questions about the weather in Gangneung (where my school is) and Buenos Aires.  When they are finished asking their partners, go back to the power point to show the Where the Hell is Matt video.  While watching the video, students should write down the names of the places they know.  After the video finishes, have the kids write down sentences where they want to go, why they want to go there and advice they would give someone going there.  When they finish their sentences, students should tell their partners their answers.

Once they're finished, students should do the 'Are You Interested In' matching activity on the opposite side of the paper and write down 4 things they are interested in.  In my classes, we will go over the matching answers together and volunteers can share about what they are interested in (I give candy so they'll talk).

The last part is going back to the power point to play the review game for chapter 4.  I haven't decided how to split the class up for the game...possibly boys vs. girls or in their rows.

again I normally use this as an open book quiz as it gets them looking in their books (even the normally uninterested kids)

Help has anyone done a review of chapters 7 8 9?  I have only done half of 9.  No idea what i am supposed to be reviewing.  Argh
