Review of Lessons 1-3
« Reply #1 on: April 13, 2011, 02:27:43 pm »
I made a very simple fill in the blank dialogue handout for students to complete in pairs.
They are to use information about themselves as well as complete some of the main expressions from each lesson in the textbook.
After the review is finished, students will play a game as a reward for working hard in the first part of the lesson.

I made a ppt with some review work using and combining some lessons that were posted in the thread. Thank you to everyone that contributed. Afterward I also made my own short version ppt that ONLY focuses on "conversation", which is self explanatory. As always I will be posting both in 2007 and 2003 format. Hope this is useful to someone. ^^

EDITED - 20April 14:00
(hmm, forgot to add lesson 3 "conversation part" to my own review ppt. I added it now. To the 2003 one.)

This will certainly be useful to me. Next week is midterm week, so all the teachers are wanting reviews.

Sorry Sheila, I didn't see that you had a link to the review lessons on the main page. Follow this link to where I made my contribution to the review of Grade 3 : lessons 1-3.

i made this review game for the first 3 lessons of grade 3.  there is an instruction slide (#51) that you can use to learn how to play the game.  also, there are hyperlinks galore so you should play around with navigating the game before you play it with the kids.
enjoy!

Here's my jeopardy game for grade 3's as the review lesson for Chapters 1, 2, and 3. To keep things interesting.. I chose which team would go first by asking the whole class to do something and the team who completed the task first would go first... second.. second.. etc.

For example:
The first team too bring me a pencil.
The first team where everyone holds up a shoe (each).
etc...

The kids responded really well to that and it also helped focus them all on me in between rounds.

Feedback is always encouraged.

Okay kids, here is my rockin' review for third grade.  Better late than never... since I just finished it twenty minutes ago. It's got many different elements but the first is a listening practice.  Make up your own dialogue to fill in the blanks.  The rest is pretty self explanatory.  I paired it with a time and distance worksheet which is posted on Lesson 3 by someone awesome. (Thanks by the way!). With six pages to review, these kids aren't going to say anything for the entire class period because they'll be too busy trying to scrape their brains off the floor at the end. But, you might have to explain how to do the last page of word problems since it involves distance, time, and (OMG) rate.  Just to throw a wrench in it all...  Anyways, happy teaching.

Hey guys, I just found a mistake on the first worksheet. Hopefully you haven't printed it yet.  If you have, please change 'missed' in the word box to 'closed'.  So there should be two 'closed'. Also on the second page, under the first story there are two questions 'Why are you late?' Just remove one.  Sorry, this is what happens when I'm working hurriedly.

Here's a fill in the gaps dialog that covers chapters 1,2 and 3 of the book - I used one that someone else had put up here and have changed it a fair bit to suit my classes so thanks to that person! I've also made a ppt to go with the gap fill to help with going through the answers after the students have completed the ws.

Also included a couple of review games for the 1st 3 chapters - Jeopardy and Simpsons Bomb game.

Thanks for the input but this is for Grade 1 and this is Grade 3 section. You should move it to Grade 1 Review so others can view it for Grade 1 review ideas

Bomb games worked great for reviews but they take a good while to make. Heres mine for reviewing chapter 1,2 and 3.

I will have a Price is Right game up tomorrow! Enjoy!

What are they supposed to do for the slides where there's no answer and just the key expression?

The key phrase is scrambled. But I can't scramble the phrase too much (I switch maybe one or two words around, keep the first and last word same order) or else my students will just get confused.
