I have adapted an old birthday song to be used in this lesson.  You will need the following free software to read and play the song. Forte Free ( You only need the free edition). •   http://www.forte-notation.eu/en/index.htm I also attached the pdf format of the score with the words.  I hope you enjoy it. I had to zip the Forte Free file for the site to allow me to upload it.  Just unzip it.

This is an example of how the birthday song was used in a short dialog - role play that was done by us.  The idea was that the kids must guess the silent words - That would lead us into the next lesson

Birthday games are fun to do in a class. Maybe you could get your students to do survey on each other or on other teachers. This way, they can practise speaking and listening.

As a very quick intro to the lesson you could always have the students line up (in two groups) to see which group finishes first. The goal is to line up as fast as you can arranging yourselves from youngest to oldest, using their birthdays! The team who is first, or has the least amount of errors wins! Simple but fun.

I got my grade 3 students to make birthday cards for my little brother at the end of the class... excellent bday present to my 14 year old brother and also a good way to get them to write the vocab and get creative!

Hey all!  I was a heavy contributer to the Mediafire site before it crashed and burned, but I stll have all th eold files for games/ppts/etc and will try to upload as often as possible.  I am teaching middle school now, so not sure what is happening in Elementary these days.  If you have a specific request for a gam eor PPt for grades 3-6 Pm me and I will see what I can do.

A role play using Pororo's birthday episode. The episode on youtube is in English, and it contains many of the key sentences the students have already learned. The role play went over really well, even for students that don't normally participate. This took the entire class time, about 40 minutes.

1. Students watch the Pororo's Bithday Surprise youtube video
2. Go over the Birthday Surprise slides
3. Hand out script
4. Students choose one of six character roles
5. Practice in groups
6. Performance
