To follow on with the theme of great memories I used this 'What's on my back?' variation. I played this game today and it went wonderfully with all three 3rd grade classes, promoting lots of conversation and laughter.
Each student gets a piece of paper on their back with a description of being somewhere/doing something. They ask yes/no questions to friends to try and find out what is on their back. First to guess correctly is the winner. I also allowed 'I don't know' responses but this can get complicated if not monitored.
Example phrases to practice:
Am I ___? (exercising, outside, walking, driving, etc)
Do/Can I ____? (jump, feel cold etc)
Is it in _____? (USA, a boat, the ocean, a famous place etc)
Depending on your class English level, you may have to simplify the sentences a little. I attached only 6 descriptions and played it in groups of five or six. These worked well with my students who enjoyed the challenge.
