Lesson 4: Our Foreign Neighbors

There is still no link to Lesson 4 - Our Foreign Neighbors, so I added my lesson here in case anyone was looking for ideas.

This is for the end of the 1st lesson (after Listen & Speak 1). It is a simple Pirates.ppt game. I modified it from one of the many pirate.ppts that are posted on this site.
- I play this in teams, and 2 people from the team get a turn to practice the conversation.

To begin the second period (a review of "What would you like to do?" "I'd like to...") I modified a hidden pictures PPT from another user. The students are broken into teams. The first team gets to guess after the first square is removed, or they can pass. If the team wants to guess, 2 students from the team have to make a conversation. Directions are on the PPT for you and the students. Feel free to modify. Hope it helps (since it's for grade 3, there are unrelated backgrounds to make guessing more difficult).

I haven't found very much material on this chapter, so I mashed a bunch of different things together and tweaked it. The students have just finished their midterms so I wanted to do something that was based more on speaking than worksheets. Hope this helps somebody!

This is my lesson on the first part of the chapter, "I'd like to...."

I'ts a mish mash of various PPTs and is pretty long. It has 2 games, one of which I borrowed from Firbus above.

Just beware, you have to link the video to the box on the PPT.

I'd like to:
Here's a worksheet and board game from another web site.

My lesson plan is going like this
1) Write "I'd like to" on the board and explain the meaning and grammar (eg no -ing)
2) Listen and speak  (I have to do this)
3) Worksheet. Stop when there are 15 minutes left so that there is enough time for the board game.
4) Play the board game in groups of 4-6.

It has worked relatively well so far.

For "Can you make it?", the expression in Listen and Speak 2.

I have attached my lesson plan. I've never taught it before, but I'm pretty sure it'll work at my boys' school. For girls, it might need tweaking. Let me know if you've used it and found ways to improve it.

The Sudden Attack revision game was pulled from the other thread (there's one here http://www.waygook.org/index.php?topic=5044.455)

Used Angry Birds Mystery Box template to make a review of lessons 1-4. The material is heavy on lesson 4, so I'm posting it here. There are 24 questions all together--a little from each of the four lessons. I think I love this Mystery Box game even more than my students, but they really enjoy it!
