Feelings or Emotions?

Hi all.
This is my first draft of a lesson I am planning for my 2nd Grade students. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Here is my version, thanks to those I borrowed from.

In this lesson I teach the vocabulary and how to use it, teach some emotions idioms and then test the students with a bingo game. For Bingo clues, I say: "The idiom that means you feel angry" or "the opposite of happy" or "When my pants fell sown on the subway I felt.." etc.

Similarly if you're focussing on idioms, you could play catchphrase or blockbusters. That is, if you have enough idioms/emotions/vocab! I could really go to town with figurative language :D

Here is my shortened feelings PPT  from shea.karssing for my after school supplementary class.  I got rid of the basics and focused on what will be mostly new vocabulary for my first year middle schoolers.

  My lesson structure:
1.Brainstorm emotions and note them on the board.
2.Show the Feelings PowerPoint.
3.Have them either draw their own emotion table or write out the different emotions they've felt today and write why.
4.Watch the Hublot short in the last 10 minutes of class.  Ask students what emotions are shown in the film.

Hublot (2013) won an Oscar for best short animation. I found the full length on youtube originally, but it doesn't seem to be up at the moment.  Kick ass does have the torrent though.

My students were predictably not all that interested in Hublot, but they did enjoy making their own emotions table (not a one went for writing about their feelings, also predictable  :wink: ).

The emotions were too easy for my advanced students - they knew them all. (I teach third grade). So I decided to change each word from the original instead of very excited - ecstatic. Very tired - exhausted. They're all new words. Used the same ppt just changed it a little bit.

I then played pass the ball game and they had to say the emotion on the ppt. I found the pass the ball game somewhere on here and made it more difficult.

After, I made a word search with the words and had a competition for candy. I let them work in pairs. Just make one off a free web creator - I forgot to save the one I made and only have paper copies.

With left over time, I acted out the emotions and they had to guess which one I was doing.
