(YBM Si-Sa) Grade 4, Lesson 1 - "How Are You?"
« on: February 17, 2011, 08:39:03 am »
This is for the new (2011) lime green 4th grade book with the boy's face on it.

Here is a vocab ppt for the first Review part.
[Would also be good for the final day with the 3rd grade.]

(This is based off the 2011 green grade 4 textbook with the boy on the front, published by YBM Si-sa.)

Here's a Hot Potato powerpoint version for "How Are You?"  This has been modified from a previous version of pass the ball.

Here's a pass the ball game for the Unit 1-How are you. This is for the green book with a boy on the cover (YBM si-sa).
First starting with 1 ball, then level 2 is 2 balls and finally level 3 is 3 balls. Label the balls or pencil cases(whatever you choose to use.) A, B & C.

Here is a jeopardy game that I made that can be used for review at the end of Lesson 1, or during the reading and writing section.

The virus game went over well when I taught this. Children must put their heads down and the teacher will tap 2 on their shoulders. They are "not so good" while everyone else can be fine or great (their choice). Students have to walk around asking "how are you?". If they come across a "virus" who says he/she is not so good, the student who approached him/her also becomes a virus and has to say "not so good". The aim of the game is to speak to 6 people without speaking to a virus.

Cool, the virus game sounds great - I might try and adapt it for other lessons too. :)

Here's a phonics powerpoint I made for practicing the sounds of V and F - its introduced in Period 3. (Using the words, eleven, evening, afternoon, and fine) It also has a short guessing game where I would say certain words with the letter V or F in them and students have to guess which letter is in each of the words I say.
