Hand writing basics- Elementary school
« on: March 14, 2011, 04:01:42 PM »
Everybody,

My elementary students needed extra writing practice and I wanted to give them ruled worksheets on which they could trace letters. Of course, I could find either ruled fonts or dashed fonts, but no dashed AND ruled fonts.  So I made my own template. Attached is the font (you'll have to install it on your computer and your classroom's computer if you want it to show up there), and also the ruled paper template.

Edit: I uploaded a demo image of what you can do with the font and template.

Thanks LOADS!!!

Now since we're on the topic... does ANYONE have the "Teacher's Pet" font for me?  It's on some MS Words but not sure which!

Sorry, just a question - can you print the lines as well?  The lines that show them where to write?

Strawberry,

If you're referring to the lines included in the font, then the answer is maybe.  I created the lines in the font on my computer and gave the font to the other NET in my office.  He can print the font with lines included if he uses a certain printer.  My computer, however, will only print the dashed font.  The lines won't show up regardless of which printer is used.  See attached example.

Ahh ok thanks!  I couldn't with my printer - thought maybe it was something I did... so I ended up typing whatever and making print screens. :)  So there's a solution if you need the lines!

Hello!
I was in search of some materials to help my lower level students with their hand writing.  I found different worksheets from all over, so I thought I would post them here incase anyone else needs them.

Sorry if people have already posted these!
Many of the worksheets you can tailor to suit yourself on www.worksheetworks.com

WRITING PRACTICE
« Reply #8 on: April 27, 2011, 02:22:51 PM »
Hi guys,
I thought this would be a good writing practice for this lesson.
I had them look at the pictures and complete the sentences.
Hope you guys find this helpful.

Looking for Utility to Create Tracing Pages
« Reply #9 on: May 20, 2011, 09:07:29 AM »
I've been going through alphabet tracing sheets with my after school grade 1-2 students, and at the end of each sheet I've been getting them to practice writing their names. Some of them write really well, steady hand, etc, and some of them write really sloppily.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a website or utility (or heck even a font) that would take any kind of text input and spit out that text in traceable writing.

For example, I input "My name is Lee Myung Bak" and the website/utility spits out "My name is Lee Myung Bak" in traceable writing.

Just a thought :-) Not a huge deal but it WOULD be a cool utility.

OR... Does anyone know of a website where I can print/download blank tracing lines?

sorry, I am not sure what you mean by "tracing lines". Do you mean the big ruled lined paper with the dotted line between two solid lines running horizontally across the page?

Like this?

Yes, and there is a Korean Word-type program that has this too. Ask your co-teachers because it's probably on their computers.

This site is great. Anytime I see one of my students not writing in their book (and hasn't caught up by the end of class), I'll type up the classes key expressions and make the student do it for homework.

It is indeed great. :)  Although, don't let kids near those tracing papers with crayons or anything that's not a pencil or pen. They try to breeze right through the tracing and don't bother with what they're doing - at least my lazy, lazy Gr 1 and 2 class.

I'm thinking of keeping coloring projects coloring projects, and word / sentence tracing by its self so the temptation isn't there for kids to be sloppy.
