Smart English textbooks
« on: July 05, 2013, 01:53:22 PM »
Hello everyone. I have been searching for a thread that may have ideas and materials that match the "Smart English" textbooks for Elementary level. I was surprised to find one doesn't exist already. Maybe one does and I just can't find it, if it does please post a link to any such thread, I'd be highly appreciative.

So I guess this could be a starting point for such a thread, if anyone has any good ideas relating to the Smart English textbooks feel free to share them here.

Thanks

I use Smart English for the youngest kids in my afterschool class and have prepared quite a lot of materials to go along with the book. We only use book 1 at the moment (older kids use a different series altogether), but if materials for book 1 might be useful for you, let me know and I'll upload some here.

It's difficult to get through an entire 40 minute block with the first two smart English books. Does anyone have advice for filling 40 minutes without plowing through the entire book in a couple months?

I'd be interested in any materials you have, if you wouldn't mind posting them up. My school is about to start the Smart English series from February, so it would be great to have some examples of materials  ;D

I am not too sure if this is right, but my school has me using what they are calling Smart English wich is done entirely online.  From what it appears, it is more of a self guided site where students work at their own pace.  So I was wondering if this is similiar to what you have, and if so what kind of direction can you give me with it because I am fairly lost with what to do.  I am pretty sure I understand the concept of the site, I am just not sure if I am to be making materials to actually teach, or if I am more so hear as a guide/helper.

Anything that you can add will be a great help!

Thanks in advance.

Hey. I don't have time to sort through stuff as my schedule's pretty tight, so I've just made the folders containing lesson materials public in my Google Drive. The earlier lessons don't have a lot of materials, but most of the later ones have some writing activity templates / handwriting sheets etc.  It's not perfectly organised but take a peek if you're interested. PS. for the handwriting worksheets, you'll need to download the font "Penmanship Print" to your computer. It's good for beginners as it automatically creates handwriting guidelines.
