Recommendation for Short Stories please

Hey all,

I'm having a reading club with my middle school kids in an after school program, my kid's levels are intermediate (well, in rural areas they are considered as "High level".

Can anyone recommend short stories or books that are fun to read?

They are probably reading at a 5th or 6th grade level right? Going from there, here are some books I recommend for them:

Tuck Everlasting

Walk Two Moons

A Wrinkle in Time

The Black Pearl

Island of the Blue Dolphins

Hatchet

Holes

Hope those are a good start. :)
