Hi,

Here is a PPT to practice the "p" sound (p30). The last slide is for the project (p32). I have also attached a template for the project. I am going to get my students to make signs for the English classroom and I will put the best ones on display.

This is a little animated story I made for whatever the "Don't...." lesson for fourth grade was last year.  It's a little odd but my kids really enjoyed it.

I've also included a ppt of different prohibition signs and a template the kids can use to make their own Don't... posters.
:D

I love these videos!  They are hilarious! My kids go NUTS for them! The second link has subtitles.
I don't know how to download them so I just make sure they are buffered before class.

Major credit to the guys who make these! Wish I was half as creative as them! :o

Here is what happens when I get bored: I write the secret love story of Do and Not, and why we need apostrophes for contractions.

Paired well with fine cheese, a medium-bodied merlot, and a round of brainstorming for various other contractions.

This is awesome!  Thanks so much for saving me the time of making a much lamer version.

This is a make-your-own don't sign that ties in with the project in the last lesson

What the kids should do is watch the animation on the CD that explains the international "No" sign. Then, ask what colors the "No" signs in the book are - black and red. Are the shapes very complex and detailed? No - they're simple so we can see them from far away. Write on the board "No expectorating". Do the kids know what that means? Most likely not! Then draw a "No" sign with a picture of a man spitting. Do they know what that means? They should!

Next, ask the kids to think of something they shouldn't do. They should make a "No" sign based off of that. Give the kids some time to draw their sign. Next, tell the class to fold the bottom part of the sign (the "Don't ____________" part) back. Then, they should go to the teacher where the teacher guesses what their sign means. If they guess right they can get whatever reward you give out - stickers, points, etc.
This is a great game idea.

This is an update on my post from last year. I have make a few adjustments / neatened up the slide shows a little.

Unit 2 - Don't Touch That.

  • Lesson 1

Grade 4 - Unit 3 - Don’t Touch That - Grammar PT1

A simple power point introducing the sentence stricture (don't ______) in various situations.... (also includes a quick review of unit 2)

Grade 4 - Unit 3 - Don't Touch That -Slap Game Instructions & Cards

Simple game, print the last three slides. Make enough sets so that students can play in pairs (you probably wont need all the cards ... there are too many ... just choose the ones you are teaching.

Students work in pairs. Spread the cards out in front of them. Students put their hands on their heads. Teacher shouts out (don't ........) the first student to slap their hand on the card wins the point. continue until all the cards have been won. The kids love this game, but it gets pretty loud. you need to layout the rules first.

  • Lesson 2

Grade 4 - Unit 3 - Don’t Touch That - Grammar PT2

This Powerpoint includes a review of Unit 2 and the last lessons work. It also adds some more sentences to the don't______ structure introduced in lesson 1.

Additionally 'watch out', 'are you ok?' etc are also briefly covered in this powerpoint.

Grade 4 - Unit 3 - Don’t Touch That - Whisper Game Cards

print the cards (you need as many sets as you will have teams). Split the class into teams (i usually do three of four teams).

Each team lines up. The cards are all on a table at one end of the room. The teacher at the other end. The lines of students in between. Teacher gives the student at the end of the line a sentence ('don't run) ... that student passes the sentence (verbally) to the next student in line, who passes it to the next and so on. The person at the end of the line has to grab the correct card and bring it to the teacher. Fastest team wins a point.

Video I made with some friends to introduce the lesson. It may be difficult to hear some of the scenes but with the photo after it should be evident.

Don't push, Litter, Drink, Kick, eat that, Touch that.

I couldn't find a bomb game that was completely specific to this lesson.  My kids are pretty low level so it's by the book, no extra commands here!

Anyway so here's a Mario bomb game that I altered to be book specific.

Here is my intro lesson to this Unit.

My students loved the "You've been framed" video. I even had a few students ask for the URL so they could watch it at home. Thank you to whoever found that!

If you are curious as to how I used the clip, read my lesson plan and PPT. I modified the PPT from those already in this thread. I included how to say "No ______ ing."

While watching the video, I paused after something funny happened, and had my students say the command " Don't ______." (Whatever they did in the video.) If someone looked like they got hurt, I had them ask, "Are you okay?"

By pausing the video, I could let the kids laugh for a bit, and then they had time to think and say the command/ ask "Are you okay?" It also helped to control the noise level, and keep SS attention. It took 15-20 minutes depending on how funny they thought the video was.

This lesson was a lot of fun!
