Threw together a quick matching game for this lesson. I know there are tons of fun things you can do with prepositions, but my mind is mush now and can't think of anything great for this lesson. Any ideas out there?

P.S. Mod, please link to 4G lesson. Thanks!

This is what I did with my co-teacher this morning. My students are generally pretty low level and rowdy, but these activities worked out pretty well.

Introduction - I put a desk at the front of the room. My co-teacher asked, "Where's Ann Teacher?" and I jumped on the desk. A few students in each class were able to say "on." Then I had them repeat after me and do a hand motion for "on" (putting their hand on their head). We did this for on, under, in, in front of, behind, next to, and between. After the first couple of times, the students would ask the question. After introducing a new word we reviewed by doing the hand movements and getting the students to call out the preposition.

Practice - Students take out an eraser (or a pencil). I had them repeat "Where's my eraser?" and then I would say "It's next to my ear." or "It's behind my head." The students had to put their eraser where directed and repeat the sentence after me.

Some of my students knew a prepositions song that had some hand movements that they seemed to like a lot, which they must've learned in hagwon. I'm still looking for a good, simple song to use next week.

I added some more to awaygooindarok's PPT, including a quick matching game at the end.

Vocab ppt to explain different prepositions, a little "guess where" game to let them practice the new language and a battleships game you can use as you wish.

The way I did it was to play against the entire class myself.  Them on a big whiteboard I couldn't see, and me on the interactive ppt slide.  They really enjoyed it.

Another fun video. Have students use hand gestures for the locations. I'm using it after the beaver one.

Here's a scavenger hunt worksheet (from a previous poster), revised to make it a little easier. The kids don't have to write the location - they just have to draw an arrow instead. To go with it, there's a powerpoint with a Youtube song embedded (the one with hand motions). The kids really enjoyed the whole activity.

Who wants to be a millionaire game! Kids loved it! Pro tip divide the kids into groups of 5 or 6 and once they have answered a question move on to the next group. Write their score on the white board etc etc. Took photos from other great PPT's and games on Waygook.

I edited moc-moc-a-moc!'s "Where's the ball?" review/game to focus on the main vocabulary (in, on, under) and added "next to."  I altered slides that had "behind" or "in front of" and added a couple of other slides.

Matching game, much like the one posted above.  Bam game (with some pics stolen from the millionaire game, sorry but I couldn't think of a way to apply it to a whole class, so I took some) and a worksheet with an answers ppt.

I'm trying a sentence jumble activity with my classes for the reading/writing part of the lesson.

I made a goofy prepositional picture that uses all of this lesson's vocabulary. Students are put into teams, and given an envelope full of words (the ball, the table, under, is, etc.). Looking at the picture, they rearrange the words to make as many sentences as they can. They write each sentence in their notebook, and get one point for each correct sentence.

Unfortunately I'm not the best artist, so the perspective in the picture is a bit wonky, which makes practicing in front of/between/behind/next to a little difficult. But it should be good for in, on and under!

Here's my lesson plan, ppt, and board game I made for part 3 of lesson 2. Sorry if the lesson plan is difficult to follow, since it's specifically corresponds to what I reviewed in part 1 of lesson 2. It should be easy enough to follow, just a review, look and say 2, connect/read/write, a quick powerpoint and then a board game to follow. Hope this helps someone!

Guessing Game-All teams make a guess and whoever gets it right gets a point. You can give yourself a point if they all get it wrong (and for the "not here" slide to taunt them)-don't worry, they will beat you if you play the whole game.

Nice worksheet. I have the same textbook for my elementary students. Anyway here's a short powerpoint I made to help with Lesson 2's, in, on, under, etc.
