Liar Game for Months of the Year
« on: October 14, 2013, 05:49:49 PM »
Here is a game that I made for the months of the year. It's from the card game, "Liar," or also known as, "B.S." The kids had a lot of fun with this one.

Prep:

1. Print out the template to make sure that the months of the year are on one side, and X's are on the back side. Print out 3-5 copies for each group giving the group 36-60 cards depending on how long you want the game to go.

2. You can cut out the cards in advance or have the students do it themselves in class.

3.  Print out the A4 size printouts for you to model the game with your co-teacher and a few good students.

How to Play the Game:

1. Have a student shuffle and distribute the cards out evenly to each student in their group.

2. Students go in a circle stating the months of the year in order. Each time saying, "My birthday is in January, February, March, etc." You can change this to, "My favorite month is April," or whatever you want.

3. The students can tell the truth and put down the actual card for whatever month they are saying, or they can lie and put down a different card.

4. Students A, B or C can call the student D's bluff by saying, "You're a liar!" If student D is lying, then he or she must pick up all the cards in the pile. If student D is telling the truth, then the student who called student D a liar must pick up all the cards.

5. The first person to run out of cards wins.

I like your idea.

Wouldn't it work better if you had a thirteenth card?  Because if you have three or four students using a twelve month deck, they will have the same month every time it gets to them.  The thirteenth card in a deck of cards is what ensures that every one does each card once before cycling through it.

How do you make it work with an even number of cards?
