It's very similar to the other Pass the Ball game except I changed a couple slides of What's your name to good afternoon, night, etc. Good time filler. I would like to put a couple images of Buzz and Bomi pictures but I didn't know how to copy from the scanned image. Sorry.    :(

Just realized that the previous youtube may be a bit boring for the younger set so here's one with cartoons and with Family Guy voices.

I haven't done this yet but will in the near future. This is a basic sheet of a sun and a mountain. I am going to have the kids color and glue a straw or a stick to the sun. Then we would attach a bind from the stick to the bottom of the mountain so it looks like the sun can move from left to right (giving the appearance of a sunrise to sunset). The whole class can move the sun left to right while chanting good morning, good afternoon and good night. We'll see how this turns out.  :)

I've attached my lesson plan for the first period and the character cards I used for the game.

At the start of the lesson I showed the Family Guy song but with a different video, there's a choice of 4 videos on my lesson plan, I think we chose the 2nd or 3rd.The kids enjoyed it and picked up on 'good morning'

We didn't have time to play it in this class but we used the character cards at my visiting school for lesson 1 and they loved it.

The students have to go around the classroom and ask each other 'Good morning, what's your name?" to find their partner. The cards are in pairs like Shrek and Fiona, Beauty and the Beast etc. When they've finished they go to my Coteachers to get a sticker for their chart. I had a couple of cards too so I could get involved and mak sure they were using English not just showing their cards =)

For period 2 I printed out some feelings flashcards and had my students play charades. They really enjoyed playing charades. I demonstrated it with my co-teacher after drilling the flashcards. Then I had one student come up to the class and act out something that was on a flashcard, e.i. angry and the other students in the class had to guess what it was. This could also be played in small groups.

This is a simple camp game I have adapted to fit the lesson's theme :) It's basically a rock-paper-scissors tournament with three levels (Good morning, afternoon, and night). Every student will start out walking around the room saying "good morning" then they should meet up with someone and play r-p-s. The winner "moves up" and now walks around saying "Good afternoon." You can only play r-p-s with someone who is at the same level as you, and if you win, you move up, loser obviously moves down. We also added in the hand gestures that the book uses (sun, waving, sleeping) as they walked around.

This game has no end so you'll need to rally the troops after how ever long you want!

This game could work for you depending on how much space you have in the classroom, or if you can take the kids outside.  It's an adaptation of duck-duck-goose.

1.  Break the kids into two or three small groups.  Each group should be 6-10 students.  Have them gather into a circle, they can sit or stand.
2.  Choose one student from each group to start.
3.  That student moves around the circle saying 'Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night.' repeating in that order.
4.  As each student is told 'Good night' they should put their hands to their heads and pretend to be asleep.
5.  The last student 'awake' should then stand up/chase the speaking student.  They should run in the opposite direction.
6.  If the speaker makes it to the spot where the last student 'awake' was sitting then that student takes over as speaker.
7.  Repeat.

I just did this game as a final review for the unit and it seemed to go over quite well.  I took the template from a grade 4 game.  One day I will learn to credit properly, I swear...

Nothing says Good Morning to me like the sixties counterculture.
You can break this up in a number of ways and I've provided a few samples.  Obviously, having the students say "La" and sing it repeatedly is great for their el's.  And reading "da da da da da" is great reading practice (and Dadaist, to boot).  Finally, the very simple variations of "Sing a song" or Song-a-sing, etc., work great at pattern and sound recognition.
Some additional music is included here as well for you to mix and match vocal and instrumental versions.  You can stretch this over several lessons, introducing the music, for example, only after the reading has been accomplished; and the acappella singing is really sweet.
