MIDDLE SCHOOL lesson.

Resources: Print of slides 1-2 Newspaper-esque layout.

Explain we will spend 10-15 mins learning some key words. These are important for a game later. (Open on slide 3).

Read the key word in red and illicit meaning.
Read examples to give context and practice pronunciation.
"Ok lets read them together...." model and repeat.

Once completed distribute newpaper-esque handouts to students.
Place in groups of 4.

Allow 5 mins to read and understand, floor walk and be available for queries.
All the answer are in the handouts.
Start points game. Allow 25 mins.

Aims - Comprehension. New vocab and speech production.

This went over well with Grade 3.  Some answers are simplistic as the groups are mixed ability and i don't want to switch off those students. Overall it went over well. No class got every question right so there is a degree of "stretch" for the stronger students.

The real material seemed to stimulate them despite it's lack of real depth

For grade 1 - I simply simplified the terms.

A little late to the party, you probably left Korea but thank you. I appreciate this type of lesson and would like to show it students.
