I heard he used to be the lead singer of Saint John the Gambler. I recall seeing them numerous times and getting to know some of the other members in the band. I actually contacted one of the guys I knew through them.

There is much much worse things happening out there than the consensual acts between an adult and a 14yo.

Not saying this is ok, just saying it is not shocking. Take it into context with the real absolute venom out there that preys on 6yo children.

Before we all vilify the man for what he has done (and we rightfully should), there are other worse monsters out there that haven't been caught.  This man is sick and deserves the legal punishment coming to him, but there are worse things out there.  When you put his crime vs other terrible (and worse) crimes into perspective, it makes the world a scary and bleak place.

This is a crime.  A "grown man" trying to buy a young (14!) impoverished boy for sex is not right.  We don't need to sit on the fence on this or defend this man.  He was wrong, he clearly has a problem, and hopefully will be dealt with fairly. 

"Any person who commits acts of debauchery involving a minor below 15 years old, even if there is consent from the concerned minor, or even if the person has bought such minor from someone else or from a pimp, shall be punished by ten (10) to twenty (20) years in prison. In case of repeat offenses, the maximum punishment term shall be applied."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend the dude at all.  He's clearly in the wrong. 

I'm just trying to make everyone sadder by reminding us all that there are worse things in the world.  Hence why I'm so jaded.

Yeah but what's the point of adding that there are worse things out there?
We all know this.
Instead of trying to make us sadder how about trying to make the world a brighter place?
