Hey guys,

this lesson looks at the phrase "have you heard about...?"
It's more focused on gossip.

There are 4 pictures of me in the ppt so you'll want to change them to you or change them completely.

Next weeks class will be more focused on the workbook dialogue; linking "you look worried" with "have you heard"

Here is my second half of this lesson.

Warmer: Students choose a card of a famous person. They then have to think of what that person may have done over the weekend and tell the class. The class must guess who they are.

Lesson: Starts with facial expressions and introduces the phrase "You look worried".
Link dialogue with last weeks lesson and this one.
Practice and performance.
Filler at end: Facial charades. Pick a card, show the emotion, students guess and change places.

The warmer and filler cards are not attached, so you will have to think of your own :D

This ppt focuses on "Have you heard about ____" "Yes/No, what about ___"

I work in an all girls school so I try making the ppt appealing to them. Used LockStock's title page :)

3 min video
7 min ppt
10 min book
5 min explaining game
20 min play the game/music video

around 3-5 min per round for 10 pple teams, depending on the level of your kids. end of class, I have the winning team pick a music video and play it for them. If there's no time, then I just play it the next class.

This is my second half. My ppt is really short because the book takes so damn long to go through -_-

This lesson focuses on "I'm worried about______" and "Don't worry/give relief"

5-10 min ppt
20 min book
10-15 min worksheet - if there's time, have them share/read to each other.

The worksheet is pretty self explanatory. Encourage them to add on to the comic - they can change the characters expressions or add in pictures to the background.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I thought the telephone game might be a little juvenile, but it actually worked out great! I had them write their own rumors about each other, or me on small pieces of paper and give them to me first. The next class I used them for the game. It was a whole lot of fun.

Because the whole MERS thing is going around, I talked about that and had them make worry dolls for their younger siblings or a child they knew. Not the best activity to get them motivated, but it was a nice change of pace for a day.

Thank you to all the above users. Attached is a ppt modified from your fabulous materials for my students. The only major addition is the introduction to Listen & Speak 1 (p. 72) with Rhett & Link's "Have You Ever." The answers are within the ppt. Hope this helps someone.

I had the kids write their own Newspaper article using "Have you heard about.." and "That's surprising!". Pretty self explanatory. The PPT includes 2 examples.

My Grade 2's are moving a little fast so for Pt. 3 of this lesson, I'm going to do the Newspaper activity I posted above, and then have the Ss play an Overwatch Review Game.

Hopefully, this is my last post for this lesson lol My co-teachers wanted me to review Present Perfect tense (Have + verb)

My PPT goes over regular and irregular verbs and "Have you ever (ate/eaten) ....?" questions. I also plan on using this worksheet I found and slightly modified. The worksheet asks Ss simple Y/N "Have you ever" questions. They then elaborate with 1 or 2 sentences.

Ex: Have you ever broken a bone? "Yes, I broke my arm when I was 6 years old."

They are given points for each answer, they add up their points and I have PPT slides to explain their personality based on the number of points each Ss got.
