Here are 16 role play scenarios for students to practice giving excuses. Each scenario has two characters, a place and a situation (i.e. Character 1: girl, Character 2: father, Place: house,
Situation: You did not lock the door.). Some of these use dialogue from the textbook and others do not.

Enjoy!

Here's my most recent.
I'll race through the cd and my material from a previous year (I believe I posted it), and then I'll play this.
This covers Listen and Talk Pt 1 and 2 and the Comm task.
Bless are the template makers.
Enjoy!

A basic PPT lesson for "Make sure you..." with some funny gifs to elicit responses. At the end is the King game originally posted by Aqvm, but I changed some of the cards to be a little easier for my students.

The King game looks pretty cool, but how would you monitor it? Would the teams go all at once? Sounds like chaos, but still an interesting idea.

I set the kids up in 4-5 small groups and just moved between the groups to monitor it. All groups are playing at the same time, but only one student is doing an action at a time, per group.

Just trying to plan the second part of the chapter - there are some really great game ideas here, but I can't help feeling that some of them are missing the point of the lesson. The objective of this part (in my view) is to get the Ss to understand the concept of giving reminders to someone: 'make sure you...' and 'don't forget to..' I think some of the lesson materials here may give the impression that 'make sure you...' = 'do this action right now'.

I'll post what I finally come up with up - if it's any good!

My students briefly went over the material before I presented this PPT. It's simple straight to the point. I save games and review activities for After School Class only but you're welcome to use this as a piece of an overall lesson plan. My students are low-level so it'll take us all period to get through this, yours may breeze through it.

Here's my activity for page 29 (Make sure you _____). I promise it's good.

It's based on the 'King game' which your kids probably already know.

The way king game is normally played is that everyone in a group draws numbered chopsticks. One of the chopsticks is 'k' for king. The king then tells numbers what to do. Like "#5 bow to me." or something like that. The king doesn't know who #5 is so it's kind of fun to give embarrassing orders and then see who has to do them.

My version is more controlled, I give them cards that tell what to do. Like "#___, make sure you write my name on the whiteboard." and fun things like that.

I have a ppt that explains it, but your kids already know this game. Put them in groups of 5-7. You'll need to print a set of cards for each group, and you'll need cheap wooden chopsticks with numbers 1-6 + K written on them. You can buy packs of 100 chopsticks for like 2,000원. The students draw chopsticks, do a card, and then draw again and do another card.

I've included 8 cards. Each card has 3 commands on it. It should take at least 25 minutes to do all the cards. I'm not sure if I'm the first to use this game on waygook, but it went really well for me and can be adapted for any giving suggestions/asking favors lesson.

edit: I took my name out of the ppt and cards and added the font that I use just in case there's a formatting problem.

Also, 개다리춤 is a kind of funny dance. Your kids know how to do it.

Such a good game. Even the kids who don't like English class were getting involved and reading. Thank you for the share!
