A simple PPT. Attached file allows students to ask each other the question of the day. The end game is Telephone and my girls loved it. Can change the sentences for any level of students.

Using the target language:

- I enjoy.....
- How interesting!

Used the telephone game by Lianhicks.  Thanks.

This uses the target language:

Let me tell you a joke.
허락 요청하기
I don’t know what you mean.
반복 요청하기

I think this was a bit to advanced for my kids, they didn't understand enough of the English to catch all the jokes.  My co-teacher loved it though.

2-8 ppt includes:
First part (week 1): I did 1-4
1. warm-up
2. introduction
3. Speak A
4. Pass the Bomb game
5. Telephone game (didn't use)

Second part (week 2): I did 1-3
1. Review - Mission
2. Speak B.
3. Bingo
4. Circle Game

Bingo cards and tabs attached. to make the bingo card more interesting. I made the kids randomly number there cards 1-16. then i had them randomly mark each box with A or B. e.g. 1B, 2A, etc. numbers correspond to the endings for "I enjoy..." found at the bottom of the bingo card. They are the same endings found on the 'Fun with Speaking" page on pages 152-153. A and B refer to two different question endings i used. example: What do you do_______________? A: on the weekends. B. after school.

Circle game. ppt demonstrates how to play. you need to give every student ( i usually hand out paper because they forget otherwise) 1 of the 4 verbs. The last page of the ppt shoes you which verbs are used with the expression 'I enjoy...." you can design the game anyway you want, but the more kids in action the better. if  7-10 kids out of 28 have the verb 'play' on their paper, and the student in the middle says" i enjoy playing basketball" all the kids with the 'play' verb, must find a chair while the students in the middle move out of the middle as well. this always leaves 1-2 students in the middle depending hwo you design the game. this game is a lot of fun and the students always love it. I did this game for lesson 7. Find more information there.

Chapter Eight - Hobbies / Sports / Talent (Choose one and go with it)  *Idioms are also in this chapter but I would have covered it in chapter one.

Yo appreciate it. However, if I can make a suggestion. Instead of picking out and telling us fellow grade 2 book-teachers, seems it would be more helpful/relevant to post something such as a powerpoint or other materials including those themes. Being someone who has already used this book and has lessons for these themes, this would be a more helpful way to contribute to the thread.

So at my school my co-teacher and I started making worksheets to review the grammar points of the lesson. Nothing too long, just a few questions that the students can practice.

This worksheet is for Passive Voice and also for practicing infinitives (It's easy to ______).

Hope this is useful to someone.

Attached is the worksheet and the answer key.

This is part 2 of my lesson. I had a lot of time to kill, so I just created a simple worksheet to play Battle Ship in class. It practices "What do you do on ___?" and "I enjoy ___."

The kids and and my coteachers had never heard of battle ship, and it took a fair amount of careful explanation and demonstration playing before my CoT understood me, and I would rate her English as pretty decent. Be sure to take a few minutes beforehand to explain it thoroughly.

I had the kids draw 3x small ships (2 blocks) and 2x large ships (3 blocks) and label each one with a hobby. So the sample dialogue would go: "What do you do on A1?" and then is there is no ship there the answer is "Nothing." but if there is a ship there you answer with "I enjoy listening to music." or whatever the corresponding hobby is. This takes about 20/25min total.

My ppt to facilitate the class is included. It has a minimal pairs warmer.

Okay here is the powerpoint I will be using.  On page 161 under the language focus the book briefly focuses on the difference between "fun" and funny."  So I am taking advantage of it and added to the powerpoint the differences between fun and funny.  It should be useful to them.  I also added someone's worksheet, but they also added the difference between "scared" and "scary."  So I suggest either deleting that from the document or cutting the paper in half which is what I did.  Or you could teach it.  I added a Real-Life exercise as well.  Hope it's helpful.

Here are some ppts and a worksheet for this lesson. The credit or the hangul jokes goes to Leo Fuchigami. Check out his youtube video for more.

I found this worksheet on esl printables for the Beatles' song "All You Need is Love."  It should be useful for teaching grammar and it is the chapter's song.

Whoops!  After closer inspection of the worksheet I realized that there is a type with one of the verbs, so I fixed it. This song is really useful if one wants to teach the passive tense, which is found on pg 161 for the language focus part c.  The passive is the form of the verb be + the past participle.

Here is the attachment for the slides for the "Language Focus" of pg 161 part C.  It focuses on the passive and past participle and also the differences between passive verbs and active verbs.  It should be a useful explanation for your students.  It then goes to the Beatles activity song, which should help cement for them the differences between the active and the passive verb tenses.

I made a game for this chapter using a pokemon game template.  My students loved it.  The game took 40 minutes.  Thanks to whoever posted that survey worksheet for this chapter.  We used that worksheet for the last 5 minutes.  It was a good way to conclude the chapter.

Okay I found this powerpoint and worksheet in a high school forum on waygook.  I made some changes to the powerpoint.  I think it will be useful.  I need to keep my second graders on this lesson for one more week, because next week I will still be on lesson 8 with my first and third graders.  I don't want one class to progress through their book too much faster than the others.

My materials for this lesson

Part A - introduced the 'I enjoy...' grammar part, and played the bingo from mirokii above. During the game, I turn off the TV, and have 1 student come to the front and read the sentences on the slides for the others to cross. We did some listening, then played the hobbies hotseat game, using the target language.

Part B - quick review and into the 'Let me...' part. They usually  enjoy the optical illusion pictures. We finished listening up to focus in, did the wordsearch, then depending on whether it was my level A's or level B's, the game was different. Level B's played the hobbies guessing game in the PPT or did pictionary using hobbies, and level A's did the Ink Blot test game posted here http://www.waygook.org/index.php?topic=60864.0. Great for discussion and fun, but not really related to the chapter. They look at the picture and write what they see, getting points for answers that are (a) different from other team's answers and (b) they can explain (more or less) where / what it is they're seeing.

Part C -  review, finish off listening, and play the boardgame. There are four different question / dialog types, depending on where you land (credit to the tempate maker). I printed out the second page of the boardgame with the dialog sheet, and gave one to each group.
We played some dictionary to finish off

There's also an unscramble worksheet that I didn't use.

For this chapter, I thought I would teach 'Knock, Knock' jokes and 'Why did the chicken cross the road?' jokes.

First, I taught different ways to use the word 'joke', parts of a joke (set-up and punchline), and explained the joke from the textbook in 'Get Ready'. Then, I introduced 'knock, knock' and 'why did the chicken cross the road' jokes with many examples. 'Knock, Knock' jokes were more of a hit because they were interactive and easier to understand.

I have removed my powerpoint.
