I use my entire 45 minutes on activities with the kids, so these should hopefully take up the time. They have the kids use the key expressions and ties into the theme of the chapter as well.

1. Magic Card Tricks. You'll need scissors, decks of playing cards (ask your co-teacher if the school can buy them), and glue sticks. I expect there will be a lot of help needed as the kids set up the tricks, so probably make sure your co-teacher understands how the tricks work, too. I pulled the magic tricks from here: http://magic.about.com/od/Easy-Magic-Tricks-for-Kids/tp/Easy-Magic-Card-Tricks-Kids.htm
2. Optical Illusions Skit. I printed off some size distortion optical illusions from http://www.brainbashers.com/opticalillusions.asp and wrote the answer to the illusion on the back.
3. 2 Truths and 1 Lie. Exactly what it says on the tin. I'm going to encourage the kids to say the most outlandish stuff they can think of since one of the key expressions is, "I can't believe that."

Here is my introduction power point. It loosely covers the main topics since I find that my students are very advanced and understand well after about three times on each idea. I will be creating a worksheet later this week that will hopefully be useful for you all. Keep your eyes peeled!

this lesson works really well and takes the whole period. I took a lesson I found on here from the middle school English William R edition chapter 4 and added listening and speaking 1 page thirty. I also explained acronyms to the class which was a fun part (lol, ttyl, fyi, omg) and they told me some of there favorites they use. The worksheet attached is also great. not sure who to give credit to for that but t works well.

Hey guys,

I spend a few weeks on each lesson and spent last week having fun with the acronyms and optical illusions. This week for part 2 I want to do something different.  I think I will use the Guinness book of records lesson (see below) i found on this site and add our target language to it (I can't believe it, what a surprise, etc.) So take a look at it if you are running short of ideas.

Here is the PPT I am going with.  None of this is my original work.  I just borrowed from a few other users and edited to my liking.  So thank you to the original users who posted their hard work.  My second graders are pretty low level, so that is why I have them repeat "what a surprise, I can't believe it, etc," after each slide.  Hope it helps.  Feel free to adapt the PPT to your style.

Hello!

I'm uploading my presentation which is a compilation of most of the PowerPoints on here. I teach all pages (p. 26~28) from the textbook so I stuck with the book's key phrase for drilling.

The students enjoyed the photo fads, the world's two biggest holes and the video of the worlds fastest clapper.

Enjoy~
