Guess I might as well get the ball rolling. Here is some stuff I modified from other textbooks, so I give credit to those who made the original ppt files.

Split into Lessons A and B with songs hyperlinked, two hands outs, and two games.

*EDIT* I have added an updated version of PPTa because my co-teacher suggested it strayed too far from the main lesson. This version focuses on the key expressions (I'm fine, I'm okay, I'm not bad, I'm not good etc.) and not 'embarrassed, lost etc.

name chant
students sit in a circle. Chant has 4 beat rhythm. Pat, clap, snap, snap. On beat two say your own name. on beat 4 say friend’s name and they continue chant. try to split class with coteacher. dont have to sit, can stand.

Introduced the new characters and the new vocab.

A pass the ball game to play at the end of class. I actually teach this differently and make it a game. The kids don't pass a ball but a soft dice and when the music stops and the kid answers they get to roll the dice and win points for their team.

My co-teacher used this with the students last year and they really seemed to like it.

In case anyone's using this book again, here's my standard word search for the lesson.

Period 1:

Introduction PPT
goes through the key expressions in the lesson with a few extra feelings added.

Snatch In pairs, students will listen to the teacher say a key expression. Students will then try to be the first to grab the correct card. Whoever grabs the cards the fastest can keep the card. If students grab the cards at the same time, have them play rock, paper, scissors. The student with the most cards at the end is the winner. (Cards are included in Game Cards PPT)

Hey guys- just something fun - I found this video of "20 ways to say hello" on youtube. some of it is NSFW so I spliced and joined it into the file called "joined-all". Haven't tried it yet but hoping they enjoy it. I'll teach them "What's up" and a handshake some people use in South Africa
