2014 Grade 4 Cheonjae 2 - 7. Help Yourself
« on: March 03, 2014, 12:19:53 PM »
Hey all,

Two ppt's explaining the key expressions. In addition, I added the expressions 'do you want SOME more' and 'MAY I have some.' I have a two games, hidden picture, and 'hint' game where students guess the word using picture hints.

Happy teaching

Also, 'Do you want to build a snowman?' technically uses the key expression.

A fun video (Mr. Baseball) to stress the difference between western and eastern dining culture. Yes, it's Japan, so just cut the video at exactly 1:55 before the guy starts speaking Japanese.

This is totally not my idea at all, I saw it somewhere else on this site for a different lesson.
Can be used for speaking practice.

- Give every student a small piece of paper (I'll just use post-it notes) On the paper they write, or if low level perhaps just draw, one food from the book e.g. mango, cake, milk etc.
- Everyone stands up, and mingles together asking "Do you want some ________?" ( _________ = the name of the food they wrote).
- If they wrote the same food, they reply "Yes please" and join together to continue mingling with others. The 2 then become 3, 4, 5 people etc as they find others with the same food.
If they wrote a different food reply "No thanks, I'm full" and move on.
- The group with the most students at the end is the winning group.

Used the Pokemon game template as a wrap-up for this chapter.

  • 안녕하세요!!!
Here's some cards for "go fish" game. Just print multiple on pages. Also, if you want them to practice reading there are cards with the words on them. In order to get points they should match the cards and include the "spelling card". Without the spelling they can't get a point.

Key phrases for the game-

"I want (some/a/an)  _______, please."
"here you are" - if they have the card.
"help yourself" - if they don't have the card and are offering the draw deck.
"thank you"

I printed 3 decks for 3 games simultaneously there's 5 students in each game. But it can work with 4-7 players, I think. enjoy

Three of a kind card game!

Students use this lesson's target language in an attempt to get three of the same kind of card!

Its a modification of a modification of a Go Fish game.

Writing Telepathy game

Students form groups of 4 and each write a word every round.

4/5 words dissapear.

If the team did NOT write the final word, they get 1 point.
