This is a modified version of the Prediction or 'Telepathy' game that I have managed to rip off another Waygookin from Grade 03 lessons (kudos to him) and have copied and pasted my way to make it look like its mine. Ive also copied some of the pics and words from the earlier post from vernorene, thank you for the kind work.

Uhmm.... so can we talk about how awkward and bizarre Story Box is for this one??? Does anyone have any ideas for how to make the story less creepy and weird?

Here's my teaching resources for 1/2/3rd period. We're playing the Sleeping Elephants game, thanks for that! The kids love it. Just don't do what I did and try it as a race - it was madness! It seems they don't need a winner for this one, just wait for them all to finish (not a race) and check answers, and move onto the next round with no mention of winners or points. Lovely.

I had an idea for a mingle game, I'm calling it 'Parrots'. Instructions in the PPT, but basically they are given a single word, and must only say that word. Like a parrot, if possible. Then they go around finding other parrots, and hopefully string together a correct sentence in the correct order - if they can prove it to the teacher they get a new card and start again. So it can go on as long as you like.

I'm gonna run it on Thursday, let's see how it goes...

XLS files aren't allowed on here, but just make up a bunch of word cards for your target language. I doubled up so there are twice as many words as people.

It's based on a folktale "Simcheongga" "The Blind Man's Daughter" or "Shim-Cheong the Devoted Daughter." Your students should already be familiar with this, and having that context before hand will make it less bizarre. Sort of like the Story Time version of Frog Prince from Chapter 7 wouldn't make any sense without already knowing the story.

This went off gangbusters today, and wanted to share. It's a simple and fun review activity for this lesson.
I divided the class in two and alternated teams. One student answers a question, the whole team repeats the answer, and then that student gets to come to the board and draw a body part (of the ppt's choosing) onto their team's "monster." Rinse and repeat. At the end, the teachers choose the craziest monster creation. Don't be fooled by this activity's apparent simplicity, the kids were eating it up, and there was a lotta laughter in the classroom.
We use classdojo.com as a reward system (a great classroom tool), so all the cute monster avatars are credit to them.

Vocabulary practice. After the students have practiced the sentences and the motions that go along with them, I play a modified version of "Simon Says."

Students have to do the motion when the leader says the sentence with PLEASE. If they do not say please, then you shouldn't do the action.

If you are not creative, this can get dull fast. When I was the leader I would switch motions to try to trick them. I would also have students come up and be the leader.

A bit late but this may come in handy next year, or for anyone slow in the book.
Two homework worksheets,

one a basic fill-in-the-blanks and draw (the drawing is to check they read it and understood).

the second is for super low students, to give them a more accomplish-able goal, and make sure they're still included in the homework fun :p I'll be giving this one to my three kids who don't know much more than the alphabet.
