This is called the "Clap Game" developed by Jacob Boer of Gwangju MOE. It was made known to me by the creator at an EPiK orientation in March 2011.

How to Play: Some kind of order is determined for the class. (i.e. Down each row, then back to the front). Each student reads one word and then the following student reads the following word, etc. If a symbol appears over a word, the student must preform the appropriate action.

Kids seemed to enjoy the game.

EDIT 2011/04/19:
I have added another game created by Jacob Boer adapted for this lesson.
It is called "Dice Game." It reviews the key terms for the last chapter (family) as well. WRITING Activity.

How to play: Have each student create a single sentence by choosing one phrase from each column (Who, What, When). When everyone has written their sentence, have everyone stand up. Roll a dice for column one, if the student used the corresponding phrase as part of their sentence, they must sit down. Roll dice for column two, and three, etc. Last one standing wins!

I found a really good video that uses the key expression perfectly. The only problem is that it's very short.

http://www.youtube.com/v/2HlVSeRBQb0

I also use a digital clock game that I made.

Here's my PPT for the lesson.

Hi Everyone;

Attached is a PPT that goes along with Period 2 out of the textbook.  Also attached is a ``Pass The Ball`` Game using jamesvonkin`s clap game material.  Hope you don`t mind jamesvonkin I decided to use your clap game and make it into a pass the ball game.  My kids need a lot of stimulation and I loved your clap/scream/jump/spin idea and thought adding the pass the ball between the sentences would really have the kids going!

I'm sure you guys know what's the time Mr. Wolf?
There should be books, PPT's etc on this on the net, or buried somewhere on Waygook

A game to play using this is to stand facing the wall, and have students call out what's the time Mr. Wolf...
reply it's 1 o clock, 2 o clock etc, and students take 1 or 2 steps toward you respectively.

When students get close you can shout it's time for lunch as a reply, and turn and chase them back trying to catch 1. Let students have a chance to be Mr. Wolf.

It's fun stuff!

I PREPARED THIS POWERPOINT FOR READ AND PLAY FOR MY FOURTH GRADERS. IT'S SELF-EXPLANATORY.

The clock on the first slide says "Kill Yourself" might not want to show that to fourth graders...
people check these things before posting.

Here is another game I got from Jacob Boer called "Writing Dice"

HOW TO PLAY:
1. Have the students choose a phrase from each column to create a sentence.
2. Roll the dice for column 1, any student who used the corresponding phrase must sit down.
3. Roll the dice for column 2 and 3...
4. REPEAT 2, 3 until there is one person left standing.

Cheers!

I made this ppt because I wasn't happy with the last activity.  In the first portion, the students say the sentence ("I'm hungry," "I'm sleepy," "I'm late") that correctly corresponds to the image.  The second portion is a set of visual instructions for the Clock Game.

My plan for this lesson is to play "What time is it Mr/Ms/Mrs ____? (insert teacher's name). Instead of all students running across the room I will only have a few do it at a time. Each student will get a card with a time on it, after I call out the time the students with that time card will have to run to the front and touch the board. If there are 4 teams you will need 4 sets of cards. Ideally the students in the front row should have the same time card and the next row the same thing just so the distance is the same and it's fair for everyone. Another way you could play this game is not have students run but stand up and yell "It's time for bla bla bla". Maybe the second option would be better for Period 3 or 4.

Here's an example:

Option 1
Students: What time is it Mr____?
Me: It's 12:30
Students: The ones with that card run to the board. (4 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd, 1 for last and 0 for having the wrong card)

Option 2
Students: What's time is it Mr____?
Me: It's 12:30
Students: It's time for lunch! (points same as above)

I got this idea from Genki English, they have a nice song you can sing with the students as well. You can find it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcKGi_PCjc4. How do I post videos btw? If anyone has a full version of the song you should post it.
