The game for period 2 is really terrible, so I changed it for my own. This is also a card game. I call it "surprise."Attached to this post are a set of cards to play the game with. I included a lot of duplicates so each student could get more speaking practice and so there were more cards to make the game run smoothly. Print / laminate them and cut for use.How to play:Place students in groups of 4 or more.Put the set of cards face down in the middle of the desk/floor (wherever you are playing)Have the students play rock/paper/scissors to see who goes first. One student will draw the top card from the deck and they must correctly say the word/ phrase. If they are correct, they can keep that card and set it aside in their own pile. Then the next student can go and do the same....and so on.When a student draws one of the "surprise" cards, they must put all of the cards they have obtained back into the main deck. (They place them at the bottom of the deck along with the surprise card).Since everyone WILL get a surprise card and lose their cards eventually, the game pretty much goes on as long as you want it to. Whoever has the most cards at the end of the allowed game time is the winner. The kids LOVED this game. They always tried to guess who was going to get the surprise card and lose all of their cards. I will probably add more cards and phrases to this as we get further in this chapter.
