Here's my ppt I used for practicing telephone English
There are more expressions in the book that I didn't write in the ppt. - they should call them out when brainstorming.
The Activity at the end~
I have cards with houses and each students name written on each card AKA one student who is in the house I give one each to every student in the class [their card should be a SECRET and its ok if a student gets their own name].
Students pass a ball AKA phone to another student.
The person who passes the ball will be the caller and the person who catches the ball is the receiver.
The caller will try to guess the name that is on the card AKA guess who is home and ask for them. The cards SHOULD be kept a secret the whole time!
The caller will try to guess ie. Hi can I speak to BOB. The receiver will look at their card and if it matches they will answer ie. Just a minute/hes right here. [reward the caller for guessing right]
If it DOESNT match they have to continue the dialogue of leaving a message [kind of as punishment for getting it wrong and getting them to speak as much as possible lol]BONUS which Ive never actually done, if on the off chance one student gets their own name and one caller guesses that they have their own name they can both have a prize.
Its pretty rare that they guess right in general and when they have guessed right, some cases they had definitely cheated (not kept cards secret) ha. Its always amazing when they actually guess right without having cheated!
TL;DR print out all students names, hand them out, let students try guess who has what name by calling one another.
