A lot of material came from other posters; I may have changed some things to suit my students.

Here is my lesson for "you make me Happy"

This is one of two supplementary lessons for Middle School English by Choi Jin Hi - Unit 01 "More Than Words."

My co-teachers teach the material in the book, so I must create related but different materials and activities.  This lesson is about emotions and feelings.  There should be more material here than necessary, but I like to have some extra material for emergencies.

Lesson Synopsis:
Greeting and Review: Picture reveal game that utilizes the feelings given in the book.
Introduction: As a class, students supply known emotions and feelings and sort them into positive and negative categories.
Primary Lesson: As a class, students examine photographs for emotions, then combine the emotion with contextual clues to imagine a causal incident for the emotional state.
Extension Activity: In groups, students fill in comic strips with blanked speech bubbles by identifying possible emotional states and creating appropriate dialogue.
Reinforcement Activity: Students examine cartoon character faces and choose the appropriate vocabulary word from a multiple choice answer set.  NOTE: This is a re-posted activity.
Wrap-up Activity: Students must watch closely to identify an emotion that is displayed very briefly.  Requires internet connectivity.

This is specifically for Listen and Talk 1: You make me happy

1- We will go over the powerpoint to talk about the different emotions....

2- Students go around and have to ask each other "does____ make you scared/excited/happy/etc." and fill in all the boxes of the bingo board with their classmates' names. 

jwoon, How do you use the pass the toilet paper game/activity?

Simple, just get some toilet paper. I ended having to tape it up so it didnt get all over. When u start, there's music that plays.  Usually I would hit the Enter button to go to the next slide.  Whoever it's closest to has to do what's on the slide.  If its a dialog then that student plus his partner have to do the Dialog.

EDIT: Just used this lesson for the first time today and it went very, very well! The students loved it and I think they learned a lot!


Here is my lesson on Idioms.

I mostly just stole stuff from other people and adapted it for my purposes.

The battleship game was from a lecturer at the EPIK Orientation.

Also, I use a daily dialogue in ever lesson and we practice that at the beginning for 5 minutes or so.

I'm thinking of doing the "idioms lesson" ppt above, and then having each group write a skit.  Next class, they'll continue to work on their skits, memorize them, and perform them.  If you have to work from the book, there's a similar activity on page 26- "be a storyteller."  You can link that page in the book with a skit lesson.
