Here is a PPT for the Show Time Section for students to practice reading. In each round some words are eliminated and students should try to remember.  :azn:  :cheesy:

Here is a Draw and Talk game that I made based off an activity I did in my Korean Language class  ;D

The idea is that students work by themselves to draw the items on the left side of the paper, and then they work with a partner and ask where those items are and draw where their partner's items are located on the right side.  Then they compare the two and see if they got everything correct.

Adding to this dead thread.

Here is are some homework assignments I gave to my students for this chapter.

1. They must draw the object in the correct location on the picture as described by the sentence. Could work as a in class thing too.

2. Writing practice. Write the phrase matching the picture.

Stand Up & Answer: In groups of 4, students are labeled A,B,C,D.  Teacher shows the question or word to be translated and the student whose letter correlates with that answer stands up and shouts the answer.  The first student to stand up earns two points for their team, the rest just one point if they answered correctly.

Class PowerPoint games

1. A picture appears, and students have to memorize where everything is located (a pig on a cow, a pencil in a cup, etc).

The next slide has a picture of one of the items, and an O and X. The teacher says, "It's (the pig) in the bag." Students hold up their arms and make an O or X. The next slide shows the answer with its original location.

2. 3 kitties appear then run way. The next slides are scenes of a living room. The teacher says, "Where is my cat?" and question marks appear in different places. The teacher says, "It's under the table," and students who think it's under the table raise their hands. Same for the other places (on the sofa, in the box).

;D The students really enjoyed these. It was a fun challenge for them  :P

Hi guys,

This is my first post on waygook. Thank you to everyone that has posted their games and ideas!

I have a game for period one, a listening game:

Draw it: 1) Two white boards, two markers and two dusters are set up in front of the class on tables. 2) Students are put into groups of four. 3) One student from group 1 and 2 come to the front. 4) The teacher says a key sentence and the students must draw it. 5) They have 10 seconds to do so. 6) The team who finishes the fastest gets a point. The team with the best drawing gets another point. 7) One student from group 3 and 4 come to the front and do the same thing. 8 ) The game carries on until all the students from all the groups have had a turn. 9) The group with the most points is the winner and each student in the group is rewarded. If there is a tie those teams choose their strongest player and play one last time.

I hope you find this game useful! ;D :azn:

This is a template to make a house out of paper.
The kids can colour and make the house then use it to the teacher's liking.
For me, I had the students stick on the little pictures somewhere on the house.
They then told me the placements. EX: The cat in in the house.

Find the Pokemon writing activity for class 3.  I've now used it two years in a row with kids of all levels (different schools), and it's always been a hit.  Even used it as a refresher with sixth graders, and they enjoyed it.  Can't recommend it enough.

Kids look at Where's-Waldo-esque Pokemon pictures, find the Pokemon, and fill out the appropriate preposition on their worksheet.  Kept the prepositions to in/on/under/next to so low level kids could keep up with it, but you could definitely make it more difficult with a few minor modifications.

I've pictures and worksheet are both in the PPT (also includes an explanation, quick preposition review, and answer check.)  There are also teacher cheat sheets at the end, which I recommend looking at, since the kids will probably need help finding some things.

*Will take around 20 minutes, depending on your kids' level*

Have fun!

Here is a simple draw and ask kind of game.

I print off slide 1 and 2 onto one page together. Each student will get one paper.

On picture one, they draw the six items I show them anywhere they'd like. This is done in secret, so they shouldn't show their partners or desk-mates.

After drawing, students will take turns with their partners asking "Where is the~~?" Whatever their partner answers, they will draw on picture two.

Once both have finished asking about all six items, they then can look at each other's pictures to see if they were correct.

Though it was simple, it was good speaking practice that they didn't seem to hate even though no one was a 'winner'.

I was looking for a "punishment" song for the losers of a game and found this hilarious preposition dance.  I usually use the busy beavers song for this lesson, but I think this will be fun too.

Happy Monday!

Here is a Make a Sentence Game adapted from the 5th grade thread. Might be a stretch to try this with 4th graders, but what the hell right? It's June. Instructions on the PPT. Just need to cut out the cards for each group.

Cheers!
