For the grammar in this unit we talked about 4 ways to form exclamations. On the board I wrote:

1.       What a(n)   +  adjective   +  noun!
2.       What a(n)   +  adjective   +  noun +    it is!
3.       How  +  adjective!
4.       How  +  adjective  +  the  +  noun  +  is!

 Examples:
***Beautiful flower
What a beautiful flower!
What a beautiful flower it is!
How beautiful!
How beautiful the flower is!

***Exciting game
What an exciting game!
What an exciting game it is!
How exciting!
How exciting the game is!

The writing sheet has six examples on it so I gave one to each group to write 4 exclamations, which they then shared with the class. Then we played the Exclamations Lucky Wheel game for more practice and review.

I also used a ppt to practice the grammar for when you saw or heard something.

The boy played the piano. + She saw this. = She saw the boy play the piano.
She sang a song. + I heard this. = I heard her sing a song.

It worked well as a whiteboard race game. Each team has an individual whiteboard and will race to write the sentence the fastest.

Listen and Talk 1: How Interesting!

In the beginning of the ppt I have the School House Rock video on adjectives. I included the video, but you might have to re-link it as it's not all in 1 folder and ppt likes everything to be in the same place.

I borrowed a LOT from mjmartens game but remade it in Dajeon's Fruit Ninja style. I also only used the 2 types of exclamations used in the book:
1: What a(n) adjective noun!
2: How adjective!

For the game, I'd accept different answers from the ones I gave as long as they make sense with the photo and don't continuously use the words "fun" and "great."

Listen and Talk 2
(I have an open class to this one so any feedback in the next week would be awesome.)

Focus: "I can't wait until..." and "I'm looking forward to..."

The game is in the spy vs. spy bomb style that my 1st years loved.

I added the lesson plan so I don't have to retype it here. Lazy me.

Hey! I think your lesson looks great! Just make sure with open class you have the students all talk. I had mine last week and have gone to a few at other schools. The students should do more talking then you. My co-teacher also said we needed to have something writing related. so we did a unscramble the sentences and had them do it as teams and post the answers on poster board. We had a good review! I think your PPT is excellent, and the game is great - I would suggest with the game, get each student to answer a question?! Good Luck!!!

Hey TriKorea, Thanks a bunch for the feedback!
I have a little fill in the blanks paper that's going to go with the listening in B2. So I hope that's good for writing.
I just taught the lesson today to a different class and it went over super awesome (although the internet didn't work so we had to imagine the spies fighting). When I play the game I usually do it by tables, I have 7 tables with 5 or 6 students each. To make sure they all talk I don't let just one student answer the question, the entire table has to repeat the answer before I award points.

I think I was more nervous last year when I had a Mom open class at my hagwon than this year.  ;D

It's downloading fine for me... I don't know why there is a problem for you... All I can suggest is to try again?

Thanks for the suggestion. I was trying to think about different things to look forward for, I am not sure if my students know bachelor party.... but baby shower/anniversary are good ideas ;)

I'm trying to use the Fruit Ninja game, but it says you drag and drop fruit for the score page, but it's not working. Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm sorry to say that I don't know how to fix it... The game is from Daejeon's template found here:

I hear that firefox users are having problems downloading ever since firefox updated.
If you are using firefox, maybe switch to Chrome or IE?

my school computer was using an antiquated version of IE.  for some reason it wouldn't open some ppt, but everything is golden with chrome.  gold chrome?

Here are 2 worksheets for the adjective lesson.  I used the easy one because my kids aren't the sharpest tools in the shed and I played the fruit ninja game which they loved.

Happy teaching :)

For the adjectives lesson, I did mad libs. The kids get a kick out of their "crazy sentences" once they figure out what they are doing. We did a short lesson on adjectives (already posted here... take your pick) and then reviewed nouns and verbs, then we did a quick mad lib as a class. Then I passed out this paper and had them all create their own mad libs.
