Here is a picture powerpoint related to christmas and chanukah.  It has minimal words because the plan is just to wing it, and provide all of the information by talking.

Attached is the info that relates to the pictures for the christmas part.. they are just my rough notes/ the info from someone elses christmas powerpoint  hope you enjoy. 

I had my students make Christmas and Hannukah cards last year, and that worked pretty well.

Also, you can teach kids how to play deridle or make dreidles out of paper!

I made a PPT about Christmas, and how we celebrate it in America.  It's got a brief history (as I recall it) of why it is celebrated, different traditions (Christmas trees, Lights, stockings, etc.), what we eat, and, of course, all about the Big Man himself, Santa Claus.  It's really photo heavy with little text because I plan to kind of wing it, but it could be easily adapted to fit any grade, and any level of students.  I'm using this for a teachers training class.

I'm going to use it in conjunction with a Christmas Game I found on Waygook.  Props to whomever posted it, it's pretty incredible.  You'll need to change the game to fit your presentation.

Someone asked me to reload the ppt, so here I am reloading it.

And sorry if I offended anyone, I started a new thread because I was just going to post my lesson, which is not "a huge gigantic Christmas Trivia Game," or whatever that thread is called.  I had no intention of posting the game, but as I was posting my ppt, I thought it might be good to load the game in case people wanted to use it, but hadn't seen its thread.

Once again, the game isn't mine.  But it is amazing, and I would like to say thanks to whoever made this and for sharing it with us in the Spirit of Christmas, just as I did with my PPT.

I combined a few of the other ideas I found on here to make this Christmas vocabulary lesson.

I begin with a simple worksheet with pictures and wordbank for students to complete.  I level my classes into groups so give the less able groups a worksheet with the starter letter and the more able just a blank box.

Next we check the words with the ppt slide, just to make sure they've got them all right.

Then I tell them we are going to memorise the words and play the memory game.  I allow any student to volunteer to come up to the front of the class and recall the words in the right order.  As soon as the images have stopped appearing, the student recalls the words as I write them on the board.  We then run it again to check it.  The student gets points for his team for each one he gets right.

After a few rounds of that, we play what was 'Typhoon' but I've renamed 'Avalanche' in keeping with the winter theme.  I also made it so that hitting the  Avalanche means all points slide down the board one space.  It means the less able team aren't disadvantaged, and my students love the randomness of it.

There should be sound effects with the blizzard and Avalance, but they may not work with pre 2007 ppt.

The questions I used are all taken from other quizzes on this site, so thanks for all the groundwork!

P.S.  I've just realised some of these are pptx and docx.  I'll upload versions saved as ppt and doc if anyone needs them.
