Castle Crashers Bomb Game
« on: May 23, 2014, 02:18:54 PM »
Hey all - a bomb game with a slight twist.

I really liked the Lego Castle Battle idea by Jonni, and wanted to see if I could incorporate that idea into a traditional bomb game. Here's what I came up with..

The game works like a normal bomb game (keep track of coin totals) - but with a combat system that I thought would make it a bit more exciting.

EDIT - tweaked the rules a bit after a few tests with my grade 6 classes. Here goes:

The team chooses a letter and answers a question.
After the question, they can choose to a) heal 1 heart, or b) attack another team for 2 hearts.
Next team's turn.
Play until all questions are finished - the team with the most coins is the winner.

If a team dies (loses all their hearts), they lose all their coins. BUT they respawn immediately afterwards, with 5 hearts.

If a team gets a weapon, click the star next to their knight to toggle it on / off. A team with a weapon attacks for 3 hearts instead of the usual 2. (Weapons disappear if the team dies).

If a team is taking too long to decide whether to attack or heal, I usually give them a 5s count down. If they've still not decided, they attack themselves. Keeps the game going at a good pace.

Also, if teams are too loud / talk too much, I give them a mark. 3 marks = lose a heart.

Sorry for the wall of text! Any questions then PM me or something. Change it how you see fit. Any suggestions or critiques then let me know. Thanks!

Wow, cool game! I can't wait to use it. Thanks for creating and uploading! :azn:

EDIT:
I played this game with my students and they loved it! There was some trial and error to see what would work best as far as the rules. So I tested the game two ways:

With the dice, the game went a bit slower because each round (where all six teams had their turn) took longer.
Without the dice the game went a lot quicker. My co-t and I also decided to allow the students to choose the team they wanted to attack or give themselves a heart. This also made the game a lot more competitive! I literally had teams begging for mercy or yelling and standing on their chairs !

Thanks for the game and I hope you create others with this same combat style format!

Haha jeez, that's a blast from the past. Aye, I used to visit frequently! Not so much anymore. Played Castle Crashers on the 360, and Alien Hominid on Newgrounds ofc.

Hey everyone, this is awesome. The only issue I'm having is that the letters that open up to the treasure chests make all the rest of the letters reappear once you click to get back to home slide. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Don't use PowerPoint 2010 - instead use PowerPoint 2007, 2013, 365 or any of the PowerPoint viewers except for 2010 to run the presentation.

You can get the latest PowerPoint viewer from here for free : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13

Or if you live to get radical you could edit your registry so PowerPoint doesn't reset the click index

Awesome, glad it worked well for you! Envious of your white board skills :D
