Sports - Low Level
« on: April 08, 2011, 09:46:15 AM »
I use the first slide to brainstorm different sporting activities and some equipment, then run through the presentation. I show the students a video clip of some sporting activity. I used snowboarding and some skateboarding "fails".

For the "speaking" part of the lesson, I ask the children to play the card game, "Go Fishing". Instructions as follows:
Write Ace - 6 on the board in one column. Write 7 - King in another column.
Barinstrom with the students sports that use play as their verb and sports that use go as their verb. "Play" sports go in 1st column, "go" sports go into the 2nd column.
divide the class into teams and assign 7 cards to each team.
Basically, The cards now become sporting activities and the rest of the game runs as a regular game of "Go Fishing" would.

This looks really good, and fitting for my students' level too.  I have girls, although I think the sport topic might work.  Thanks!
